We are looking at doing the San Juan b2bs in 2020. Right now the prices on the website are good but looking back at the history of military pricing it looks better to book with the discount.

My question is if I were to book now just to lock it down, then cancel and rebook with the military discount will I lose my deposit? Or would they just move the deposit over to the new registration? Thank you so much!

They will not move your deposit. You will get the money back as long as it’s before your paid in full date.

Historically, military discounts become available after PIF dates, much like *GT rates. Therefore, you would loose at least part of your deposit on the first booking if you choose to cancel it, the exact moment differing if your are talking about the 5-nights or the 6-nights since the policy differs for those two lengths.

BTW, you mention doing a San Juan B2B. Looking at the 2020 schedules, the only option where this is legally possible are the four Wonder cruises in January. If you are thinking of the cruises on Magic in November, you cannot do them B2B since it would be considered a NYC-Miami cruise. You could do a round-trip NYC, then the repo to San Juan, or the San Juan-Miami, followed by a round-trip Miami cruise, but not the cruises that end then leave from San Juan.

Oh no! I completely forgot that there was a law about doing the Magic b2b ending and starting in San Juan. Is there any work around or is it a hard no from Disney?

There is no work-around. The law is the law. They would be heavily fined if they allowed you to sail that route. They will not allow it under any circumstances.
