Canceling waitlist request

It’s been a long time and I’m really out of the loop here so I hope I’m posting right!
Quick question… I made a waitlist request at 3 weeks out. Is there a penalty for canceling it if it hasn’t come through yet? Will my points go into holding? I’ve never waitlisted before. TIA

Canceling a waitlist will not affect your points. Your points are not used for a reservation until the waitlist matches and a CM manually fulfills the request. Until then, your points are not considered to have been used, so no holding penalty for canceling a waitlist.
