Canceling the credit card used for ADRs

I currently have the Disney Visa, but have cashed in all of my dollars and have a zero balance on the card. Our plan was only to use the card while planning, and cancel it after the disney dollars were used. Next month I will be hit with the yearly fee, so I want to cancel it now. However, it was the card on file when I made all of our ADRs. I see on MDE it will let me add and delete cards, but will canceling this card affect the ADRs it is securing?

The cards on MDE are just there for convenience, so you can delete the card from there without affecting any reservations. They just have you add them so when you book an ADR you can quickly select it, or quickly make payments. Since that card will only be charged if you are a no show, technically I would think Disney wouldn't know that is has been cancelled until they attempt to charge it so you will probably be fine. To play it safe you could call and change the card under the reservations but I see no way of them knowing that card is cancelled.

As long as you are not planning on being a "no show", it shouldn't make a difference to Disney. Just play by the rules and you'll be fine.

Wow. You will ding your credit if you do that. What if you go to Disney again?

Sounds like if you can't afford a CC fee that Disney should be way out of range.

I would if you could call the number on the credit card and get changed over to a no fee card. We just signed up for the Disney Visa for a $250 gc promotion. It has no annual fee. There are perks for when you get to WDW too, like the exclusive m&gs, discounts at stores and restaurants, etc.

That's kind of a bold statement don't you think? To assume one can't "afford" Disney because I don't want to pay a CC fee? And not the best financial advice either IMO.

I never said I couldn't afford the credit card fee. I said I didn't want to pay it again. I think the Disney card is a total ripoff. The fee is high, the interest is high, the reward payout is low and the supposed perks are not relevant to my family. Why would I continue to pay a fee on something I'm no longer going to use?

And if we go to Disney in the future, we'll likely just pay the 6k cash out of pocket like we're doing this time.

Our Disney Visa has no fee. We earn a point for every $100 spent. We use the card to book trips and other things that we pay off monthly. We've earned hundreds, well into the thousands, with it. It's been great. If you are going to keep a Disney rewards visa I'd definitely go with the no a mural fee option.
