If a reservation had to be canceled, ( before the 30 days) do the points have to be used that year or can they still be banked? I'm referring to current points.

Thanks!

It depends where you are in your Use Year when you cancel. If you are still within banking deadlines, you can bank. When you cancel a reservation late in your Use Year you run into the problem of not being able to bank and possibly not being able to make a non-DVC reservation (if you have less than 60 days left in your Use Year).

Points regained by cancelling more than 30 days ahead are subject to all the usual policies. They must be used by the end of the current use year or banked- subject to normal banking deadlines.

Just one more thing to add, is if you've borrowed points for the reservation, they must be used by the end of your use year or they are forfeited. They can not be placed back into their original use year.
