Canceling Question

I need you Gurus to help me here. My husband and I are planning a quick trip to the world early December. My husband is starting a new business venture and there is a small chance we may have to cancel. We are planning another
trip the first week of May.

If we need to cancel the December trip how long before I have to use those points that were on hold for the trip?

Also, my use year is April (for one of my contracts). I need to bank my points by November. If I use these points and cancel and they go on hold will I lose them if my next trip is not until May?

Thanks for any help. I tried to call DVC but needless to say they are off for the holiday.

With an April UY, if you cancel the reservation more than 31 days out, you will still be in your banking window and can bank them into your 2012 UY, providing they are not banked or borrowed points already. This would make them available for your May trip.

If you cancel the trip less than 31 days out, the points go in to holding and they will then can only be used for reservations 60 days or less, and would expire at the end of your 2011 UY, March 31st.
