Just cancelled a week's vacation 10 minutes ago for President's week at the Beach Club Villas due to having to spend the week doing college road trips for DS (16). Our high school has lost two weeks due to the August hurricane and the October snow storm here in CT. School has been lengthened to June 25th and any snow days come out of Spring break. Knowing we will probably lose some days in April, we can only do the road trips in Feb. Probably look at school in PA such as Villanova, Lehigh, Lafayette and U Penn to start, Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh is a great school but not a distance I want to drive in the middle of winter. Ultimate goal is Computer Science or Engineering and hopefully he can get into the Disney Internship Program in his Sophomore year. Give us a reason to come down!

So any of you wanting that week and on a wait list, I hope one of you gets it. Enjoy. We will figure something out later in he year.

As a side comment, I'm still waiting for the Darn (politically correct term) generator I ordered in early November! Eveything is back ordered months.

My son and family live in Canton, outside of Hartford. During the October snowstorm, their generator died. Since they were projected to have no power for a week, he drove down here to NJ, nearly to Atlantic City, to find the only generator in stock he could find. Around a 6 hour drive each way, but he got his generator lol. Right after all these storms, we had a whole-house generator installed that runs off our gas line. hopefully never again with the no power! Sorry you had to cancel your trip.

We looked at a whole house propane generator (17,000K) but were quoted $13,000 for installation. Since we are looking at potentially $200,000-250,000 for college costs at a private school, we went with the cheaper $3000 gasoline generator. And during that storm, for the week we were out of power, my neighbor spent $900 on propane to keep their house running. Way more than gasoline. We are really being cheap till we get through college. My son's 529 plan has had no growth the last 10 years. Biggest mistake we made, believing in it.
