Well, after much thought, we have canceled a Kidani grand villa for 1/9/10 to 1/17/10. I hope this helps out one of my friends here on the Dis!!! ;)

Yes, we did!! Thank you so much for asking and thanks for your advice on my "agonizing" post!! :goodvibes

I feel good about our decision and now look forward to finding out all I can about SSR. We did a four day stay when they first opened and I don't remember everything about the resort. This just gives me more to plan. :thumbsup2

Are you in a GV at SSR? We stayed in a GV there 6/27-7/3. Awesome.

Yep, we switched from the Kidani grand villa to the SSR grand villa. I'm so glad to hear that you had a good experience. We have 11 people, how tight do you think we'll be in there? What section were you in? Were you happy with it?

I am happy that you are happy!! You want to enjoy your accommodations since you are "paying" for them. I'm sure your guests will love ANY GV they can be in. Have fun planning with SSR. :thumbsup2

We had 8 adults (for 2 nights) and a 2yo and a 9month old. The first 2 nights DH and I gave up our king bed to my parents. ( the sofa sleeper was pretty comfortable). Each of our kids and their spouses had the upstairs bdrms with the little ones. In each of their rooms one of the beds went empty so there was more room than needed for us. You will love the dining room. We ate breakfast together each morning with plenty of room. Our group really was wowed by the room, esp. my parents. It was nice to have an extra bathroom downstairs. The only downfall is the very small balcony, I am not sure what they were thinking. We had a much larger balcony at OKW in a 2 bdrm. Have a wonderful time!

:thumbsup2my Family loved the Grand Villa at SSR and we did too! It really is gorgeous. We loved the dining area and kitchen too. We cooked dinner in each night. There were 42 of us total. 1 Grand Villa and 9 studios.
We slept 8 but we did not use the sofa sleeper.
I chose SSR because it is close to a full range of dining options and entertainment and they have awesome pools all over.

A couple of years back, we had a guaranteed HA grand villa reservation at our home OKW. A few days before we were leaving, DVC called and said there had been a mistake and they were moving us to an SSR grand villa. The people in our group were very impressed with the accommodations. I don't know if this matters to you or not, but we think SSR has the most up to date HA accommodations. We had a wonderful view of down town disney from that giant 2 story window. I would have much rather stayed at OKW because this was a family reunion and we like the floor plan at OKW where the dining room and living room are kind of open, but SSR was fine for the group. We didn't use the dining room as much as we used the living room for movie nights. We had 12 people - 4 couples, 2 singles, and 2 teens. We did use the pull out couch and 2 air beds for the teens. And housekeeping sent up extra sheets and stuff for the air beds after I explained that although we only had 12 people, they were not all couples so the air beds were needed. Last spring we were on a boat that we rented and when we passed SSR, they were saying oh - there's our room from last time we were here. I think everyone had good memories from the trip. I have never stayed in any other grand villa, because the next time we went out in a group, the OKW grand villa was not available and so we wound up with two 2BR's.

You will be very happy (and so will your DH) at SSR! If you want to be within walking distance of downtown, I would suggest Congress Park. If you want to be close to the main building, The Springs. We personally like the Grandstand--it is somewhat close to the main building, but also quieter because it coesn't get all of the traffic (people--not cars) of The Springs area with everyone trying to get to the main pool, dining areas, etc. We also really like the Grandstand pool area for the kids.

As I posted on your other thread, we haven't stayed in a GV at SSR, but we've toured them a couple of times and they are very impressive. Very bright, and the furnishings are really nice. You'll love it. We would love to stay there, but there are only 4 of us.
