Cancel WDW Trip....

I just found out that it is a posibility that we may have to cancel our trip in March! I am so sad. We would make plans to go to make it up. But, for know, how do I tell my 5yr old (as the 1 yr old wouldn't know either way)? He is so excited for this trip! Like I said it isn't for sure but, I just want to be ready~

I have though about bringing them myself, but I know how much DH wants to go, and he already feels bad enough with the thought that the trip might need to be canceled, I wouldn't want to make him feel worse by leaving him.

Looking for tips from those parents who have had to go through with this!

Well, if you are rescheduling the trip, don't use the word "cancel." Use the word "delay" or "reschudule." Reassure your child that you're still going to Disney, though you'll have to wait a bit longer to go.

If you're out and out canceling the trip, is there something else special you can plan to soften the blow a little?

I'm sorry you have to change your travel plans. I hope your child can take the news OK and can dream of going again another time.

Pixiedust34 has some great suggestions...especially using the term "reschedule" if that's what you truly are planning on doing. I'm sorry that your plans may have to change - sometimes I think a change of plans is just as hard, if not harder, on us adults! Pixie dust for you..hopefully you won't have to change your plans after all

I agree with using the term "reschedule" or something like that. My friend who is coming to Disney with us in May was hoping to come down last October and 'life' got in the way of that. She made sure her DD 6 knew that they were going to go later and she was ok with it.
