Cancel trip?

I have res. for Royal Pacific (got room rate 128). Anyway, the date is in Sept 14-19 but with all the hurricaines I am worried. That week is my son's fall break from school, I just dont know what to do. When I called and made the res. they said I had 5 days to cancel. Is that 5 days from the 14th? I just dont want to spend all this money to ge down there and be stuck in a hotel with a 10yr old and 3 yr old- not to mention the 6 hour drive to get there.

Looking at the 10-day forecast there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary in the weather. Only the usual scattered/isolated thundershowers. You're probably going to get those any year you go at this time. It is also always hurricane season at this time of year. Does this year seem worse to you than other years?

Unfortunately five days is way to much time to make any decisions based on the weather. The forecast changes up until the storm hits but hopefully all will be well when you're coming down.
