Cancel or go?

I would NEVER take a infant to WDW. NO WAY. We took a 1 yr old and OMG. Never again. Good luck but I would wait.

A 1 year old is very different from a under 6 monther - 1 is hard; mobile, no sense of danger. When all they do is sleep, eat and poop it's easy, OP you can change diapers at home or at Disney.

It really depends on the kid. My son I could have no problem but I could not have done it with either of my girls. The younger two were both fussy, pukey, cranky babies well past a year old and there was just no way.

Congrats on the new addition!

First off, Congratulations!!!! :woohoo: And I'm sorry that you had to cancel your cruise.

As far as traveling to the World with a small infant, we did so when DS was 9 weeks old (in the middle of the Aug heat on top of it!) Let me just say it was by far the EASIEST trip we have taken since having kids. We were with family down there so if there were things we wanted to do that DS couldn't go on, we would use rider swap or someone wouldn't ride. We took him on everything that didn't have a ride restriction. It was an AMAZING trip and I'm so glad we went. It was quite funny seeing peoples reaction to such a little squish at BB in the lazy river. He loved floating around in the pools!

My suggestions are :utilize the Baby Care Centers in each park, take breaks, enjoy the scenery, and have a great trip! :cool1:

So glad to read this. We're going in August and my soon to be born (in July) Greatgrand child will be coming along. Probably a month old. Our whole family will be there, both sons and their families. Anyway, you can be great granny and grandpa will be more than happy to baby sit their first great grandchild.

I say GO!! It is easier to tote around an infant than wait another year, and then you go at 1 year or even 2 they are whining...don't want to sit in stroller etc. so tired, and you get the drift....

I lean towards no. First of all you'd be right in the middle of cold & flu season which is scary with one that little. Secondly, as a nursing mama (I'm not sure if that's the case for you or not) at 2 months I am normally just getting into a schedule and am still nursing quite frequently. I will nurse in public, but there's a big difference between nursing once in public and doing it all day long and I'm not sure I would be a big fan of doing it at Disney. We took DD2 on a beach trip at 4 months and that has been my least favorite trip (we go every year). We still enjoyed ourselves, but I definitely felt like all I did that trip was nurse the baby or walk around shushing the baby, etc. Only you can really judge how much having a tiny one on a trip like this will stress you out though. In some ways, as others have mentioned, a newbie is much easier than a toddler.

If i couldn't leave the baby with someone, I'd cancel. I wouldn't want to go to theme parks with an infant.

It's really just whatever you're comfortable with, though.

I am thinking about waiting till May or Sept next year. We go to WDW often (once every year or 2) and have DVC. If I wait my son will be 4 years old and daughter will be 10 and then the baby will be 7 or 11 mths old. I agree with everyone else about the toddlers they are harder to deal with. My son was 18 months on his 1st trip and barely 2 on the last trip. The last trip was the hardest because it felt like we were rushed with only a 5 night trip. If I wait I can combine DVC and stay longer and pace myself. I hate the rushed trips and think my oldest would enjoy pool time and the water parks. December could be to cold, 2010 was very cold when we were there. Mainly was only wanting to go for my son for decorations and the candlelight show. I guess I am talking myself out of it. My son may have a hard time adjusting to the new addition. Is May as hot as Sept? I have been in Sept before so know what to expect.

I have done it, but it is a personal decision.. :goodvibes You have to weigh all the pros and cons. For me, there weren't many cons.. but everyone is different. Whatever your decision will end up being, I am sure it will be the right one for you... and congrats to you on the baby!:goodvibes

you know its funny .. the same things has happened to us..i did cancel our trip thinking that i can re-book it later... but i am due in november and wanting to go in december.... this is my 3rd so im' sure that i wont make it into november - but at the end of october!.... reading this has made me want to re book my trip now!...

I personally would never go with a baby that young. Too many germs for a baby that young and depending on how the birth goes you may not be feeling up to the amount of walking and standing you'll have to do.

I say GOOOOOO!! I have brought our babies when they were tiny and it really wasn't all that hard. And if you have your MIL coming along, EVEN BETTER!!! Enjoy your trip!

oh, I should add that we ALWAYS drive--from New Hampshire. Good luck with your decision. Congrats on your new lil one!

Our first with kids trip had a barely 3 year old and a 2 month old. Germs really weren't an issue - we drove and 2 month olds aren't touching things. She hung out in the sling the entire time. I just had to make sure that the rest of us washed our hands quite often. (Which is super easy for the adults with all the diaper changes! The 3 year old really didn't have any reason to touch the baby anyway).

*Nursing made it super easy. Nursing in public is really no big deal and Disney is very nursing-friendly. It also likely helped as a virus fighter. We had two adults for two kids, so it really wasn't hard. The barely 3 year old was harder than the 2 month old.

I personally wouldn't go because for both my kids, when they were a month old I was still physically exhausted from the delivery and from nursing/caring. After the 4 month mark it got better.

GO GO GO and have a blast. I find disney is the best medicine for exhaustion but maybe that's just me. Do whatever your gut tells you, if you wanna go do it, The baby care centres are brilliant and very relaxing......

Thanks everyone, hearing all these post is making me feel better. I think I can handle it. I usually go back to work 2 weeks after birth. However I work from home and can pace myself. My last 2 were C-sections due to breech and other one over 9lbs. I will most likely go C-section this time too, so know what to expect unless something goes wrong. I am going to keep my ressies for now and see how it goes. My 3 year old will be the hardest to deal with.

I think you are making a good decision. DS first trip was when he was 4 months old, and it was a way easier trip then when we took him as an older baby. That first trip I was still nursing him every two hours during the daytime, so I spent a lot of time in the baby care centers. They are great, really clean and comfortable and super convenient. I did NIP occasionally and once in the Hall of Presidents (DS wasn't impressed by history :rotfl:), and that was easy too. WDW is a very nursing friendly place.

At 4 months DS was still waking a few times at night, but he was really good about eating and going back to bed, even better than he was at home. I think all the stimulation really tired him out.

One tip is that if you are planning on any table service dining, be sure to note on the ADR that you'll need to bring the stroller into the restaurant. There are a few restaurants that have infant high chairs (Garden Grill, Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace), but the rest will let you bring your stroller in if the baby can't sit up in a high chair.

I've seen babies so tiny at WDW that I swear they were born on-site! I wonder if that would give the baby honorary citizenship or something LOL.

I think if it was your first one, it would be difficult to manage one that little, but now that you know what it's like, it'll be a breeze! I remember how much more I did with my DD vs. DS. I always thought he would break or something :)

You'll be creating a magical holiday season, that's for sure!
