I have a trip scheduled for WDW the 2nd week of Dec. Well now we found out I am pregnant (long story, Dr told me I was not negative test....until ultrasound) and due early Oct. Not sure if I should bring a infant that young. I was looking forward to trip with my youngest since he will be 3 and loves Christmas. My older child was also looking forward to it too, however she goes for the rides. I just cancelled a cruise we had schedule for the prior week to WDW in Dec, since infants have to be over 10 weeks or at (not a problem). My MIL was also going to come with us too. Has anyone traveled this time of year with a infant, would you cancel and reschedule for next May or Sept 2013?

I say go! We brought my now DS7 when he was just 3 months old. I held him on Pirates, Haunted Mansion, & Peter Pan. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Wow, you just found out you were pregnant and due in October? That's pretty lucky, I knew at like 4 week (due to morning sickness) so it seemed like I was pregnant FOREVER.I personally would put it off a few more months, but tons of people bring a baby so if your up for it I would say go for it, I'm bringing my 2 year old in 4 days so I would imagine that's gonna be harder :)

Congratulations!

If you have another adult along to help keep your older child entertained, I would probably go for it!

First off, Congratulations!!!! :woohoo: And I'm sorry that you had to cancel your cruise.

As far as traveling to the World with a small infant, we did so when DS was 9 weeks old (in the middle of the Aug heat on top of it!) Let me just say it was by far the EASIEST trip we have taken since having kids. We were with family down there so if there were things we wanted to do that DS couldn't go on, we would use rider swap or someone wouldn't ride. We took him on everything that didn't have a ride restriction. It was an AMAZING trip and I'm so glad we went. It was quite funny seeing peoples reaction to such a little squish at BB in the lazy river. He loved floating around in the pools!

My suggestions are :utilize the Baby Care Centers in each park, take breaks, enjoy the scenery, and have a great trip! :cool1:

I was feeling sick but all my test came back negative so I assumed something else was wrong (as first). My other kids I knew at 4 weeks and test came back positive. I kept bugging my Dr and test came back positive finally but they didnt think I was as far as along until ultrasound. I knew something was not right or adding up. Anyway my husband would also be going and he likes relaxing in the room sometimes so would be able to stay with baby here and there. We also will be in a villa with kitchen.

GO!
I have four children (the youngest is turning 20 next week) and we went on trips with them no problem. I remember driving to Pittsburg for a long weekend when she was 3 months and nursing her in the ball park (covered of course). I think they sleep better when they are out and about too.
Just make sure to keep them out of the sun.
Congratulations!!
Also sorry about your cruise but there is always next time......I love cruising!

Go! Especially if your MIL will be there be help. You can get some.time for yourself with your older kids, some alone time for you, or even a date night with DH! Congratulations!

Congratualtions! I say go for it. As long as your husband is willing to stay with the baby once in a while it would be a good chance for you to do stuff with the older siblings or leave all the kids with him and go to the spa :cool1:

Have a good trip!

I would go. We went to WDW when my son was 2 months old. It was a great trip. He was much easier then than when we went when he was 2 years old lol

The baby will probably sleep the whole time but my kids had cholic until about 12 weeks or so. Your baby could keep everyone up crying all night. So I am unsure. Do you have one room or two?

I would say do what your gut tells you. If you go, you will have to let the infant dictate the pace. This means missing a lot of what you would normally do. I certainly wouldn't plan any sit down meals at expensive restaurants.

I personally wouldn't go with a child that young, but that is just me. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! :cloud9:

We have gone to WDW every October since DS1 was 1 year old. It's a family tradition. When DS2 was born we decided to still take our annual trip. DS2 was 6 weeks old the first time he went to Orlando. :rotfl: He did great and it was a wonderful trip. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo with a kitchen and the kitchen made everything do-able. We were nursing and bottle feeding and pumping (Oye!) and having a place to properly clean the bottles and pump parts was great.

He slept most of the time in the stroller and was an angel. He was still getting up at night a few times but I kept him right next to my side of the bed so I could feed him and then put him right back down. My parents went with us and they were a huge help.

Have fun!!! :goodvibes

2 bedroom. I was also worried about the baby waking up others. My other 2 kids were good and only woke up at feeding times. Not sure what to expect with this one....since every child is different. Also did any of you drive or fly? The other thing that scares me is flu season.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

My youngest was 6 mths first time. I think babies are easier then toddlers they don't run away or whine. But due to the time of year and young baby just bring plenty of Purell with a young baby and that time of year a lot of people are sick so many hands touching everything. It is beautiful there at Christmas.

We drove but we only live 3 hours away so we are very lucky. No one came too close to our stroller or tried to touch him thankfully. Our stroller has a bassinet so it was like he was rolling in a moving crib.

Invest in a good baby carrier and wear your baby, that'll keep others from touching your LO. The weather will be cooler which will be so much better than the late spring/summer/early fall heat and humidity.

I wouldn't take an infant UNTIL it was at least two months old. Because their immune systems haven't fully developed until then. Sooo many people (and germs) at Disney; better to be safe than sorry!

I am guessing since I always deliver before my due date that they will be 2 months old or just slightly over. I will talk to my kids doctor when I bring my youngest in for his 3 yr visit soon and see what they think too.

I guess I am feeling like my older children will miss out.

I'm in the cancel boat.

My kids were cranky as babies and usually didn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time until close to 12 weeks. It was very difficult for me at home and I can't imagine trying to do Disney and deal with that.
Add in their immune systems weren't very developed and hadn't gotten all their shots yet on top of the lack of sleep, and I know I wouldn't have wanted to go.

As you mentioned every child is different and yours might be fine but it's just something to think about.
