Cancel or go alone?

Really struggling to decide and would like some opinions. We are dvc owners and have a studio booked at the Poly in mid January for a week. We have annual passes and flights are booked on SW so I can cancel flights without penalty. Now DH may not be able to go, and this trip is just him and I. We go often so it was more about staying at a new resort, relaxing, eating and hopefully thawing out as opposed to hitting the attractions hard. If I am going to try to rent this reservation out through a company I have to decide asap as we are 19 days away and we have a room only reservation at Pop the night before that I have to cancel in 14 days. I have zero issues with spending the week alone. I just feel like a week at the Poly by myself is so extravagant. As a mother of 4 I'm so used to trying to squeeze us in places or renting at least 2 rooms. What would you do ?

I go solo every December and absolutely love my quiet time so I say go for it. I stayed at the Poly in 2016 and while it was extravagant . . . I'm worth it . . . and you are, too. I'm always ready to come home and be a better wife and mother, but I sure enjoy the solitude. :teeth:

When our kids were young, I used to go every year by myself for a "Mom's Mental Health Disney trip". My first solo trip was a surprise for Mother's Day from my family. If your DH is OK with it, go! You deserve it!

I would feel extremely guilty going to Disney without the kids. I don’t even think we could do a grown ups only trip to Disney (elsewhere, yes, WDW, no). But it sounds like you go enough that that’s not an issue. If that’s true and DH doesn’t mind, I say go. Time alone is a great thing.

Go alone. I am not married, nor do I have kids, but usually go with my sister and niece. I went solo for the first time this past October and would do it again. Not that I don't like traveling with them, it was just nice to be on my own for various reasons.

Kids are all in their 20's. One DD will actually be there with her BF the week before and we would overlap by a day and a half. I would love if any of the other 3 could join me but it's too last minute for time off from work and other commitments.

Another vote for solo! It will give you a chance to really do what YOU want! Want to sleep in and spend a whole day resort hopping-go for it! Want to go to that restaurant DH keeps avoiding, why not! I myself have 2 solo trips planned next year! A long weekend at AKL and then a 1.5 week December trip at AKL/BWI/WL. I don't think the Poly is too extravagant for a solo visitor; in fact I think if you are planning a more low-key trip, Deluxe is the way to go!

Then I would definitely go. Catch up with DD and BF for a few things and then do things you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t.

I love solo trips! Enjoy!! I've stayed solo at SSR and AKL - both resorts I really enjoyed - spent time at the pool, chilling on the balcony - really enjoyed the deluxe amenities the resorts had to offer on my own.

OMG, go alone!! I'm not married, nor do I have kids, but I have yet to do Disney alone. I thought the June trip in my siggie was going to be a solo venture, but my best friend showed interest in going, so I said "Sure! Come on!" Don't get me wrong, I'm totally glad she's coming with me, and we're going to have fun (she's the mother of three, the oldest being 15, and has some slight guilt about going without the kids, but she also loves the idea of time away), but one of these days I AM going to Disney World on my own! Do what I want when I want for as long as I want! Yes please!

I'm definitely leaning towards going. It's not like I can bank the points anyway and I'm not even sure I could rent it at this late date. We spend a lot of time at the resorts when we are at Disney. The resort is actually more important to us than the parks. I think I'll just be thinking I should be sharing all that space and deluxe amenities with SOMEONE! It's surely a side effect of being the mom to 4 .
