We are booked for Kona right now and I'm wondering if I should cancel for Ohana? We ate at Kona last trip and really liked it, but everyone raves about Ohaha. We have 4 adults and 4 teens and want to please everyone!

We would choose Ohana. It has something for everyone and it is fun :) Great drinks too!

I'd stick with Kona. My tweens weren't that excited about Ohana, and I thought it was just fair. I'd rather have the choices at Kona, and we've always had a very good meal there.

We loved Ohana's and plan to go back. However, like the Garden Grill, their menu is very set with no choice. Several different types of meat are offered, but you really don't get to choose anything else that I remember. Also, it is a busy room with kids having the limbo and things like that....so definitely a different atmosphere.

We've done both and liked both.
If your teens are big eaters, then 'Ohana is a great deal. They keep bringing skewers and skewers of meat until you are stuffed. It can be noisy and festive, but fun.
Kona is more civilized, despite being open to the Poly lobby.

We switched last year, Kona to Ohana. Origionally there were 2 of us so we wanted a nice peaceful place with real good food and Kona is , we have eaten there before. Then we needed seating for 5 and Ohana was available (Ohana is a really tough place to get an ADR for almost as hard to get as Le Cellier) but seating was available and this place is more of a fun place so we switched, and had a great time.

We have always loved Ohana. My husband and I considered it our favorite at one point, and our pre-schooler had a lot of fun there in March. But I entirely agree with jakenjess regarding the teen/tween crowd.

Our pre-teens said they are no longer enjoying the entertainment at Ohana (to say the least.) And while we all love the food, it's really the potstickers, salad, and wings that we really enjoy. And I understand all of those are available at Kona without the Ohana prices. So we're switching to Kona next trip.

I may be in the minority, but I would choose 'Ohana. We stayed at the Poly last year and ate at 'Ohana on our first night and Kona a week later on our last night. The entire week I was wishing we were eating at 'Ohana again.

Although we enjoyed Kona, there was just something special about 'Ohana. (May also have had something to do with the fact that we were seated by the windows and were able to watch Wishes while we ate).

We are staying at the Poly again this September, and I have 'Ohana booked for two nights and didn't book Kona at all.

Oh, and my kids who were 9, 7 1/2 and 3 1/2 at the time did not choose participate in the children's activities. Regardless, they still talk fondly of our meal there.

I would definately keep Kona.
We ate Ohana in Dec and the food and service were terrible. At Kona everyone can choose something they will enjoy rather than having to eat dry, smokey meat (we couldn't tell the difference between the pork and turkey:sad2:). The *fun* at Ohanas is good for little ones...I assume your teens wouldn't be too thrilled with coconut races. ;)

I would keep Kona. We ate dinner at 'Ohana only once. We thought the food was just so-so and we were seated at a table for 8, by ourselves. We were a group of 3. Also, we were seated near the entrance, far away for any activities (and the windows). We were too far for DD to join in any games. Plus we couldn't see anything that was going on.

Favorite part of the meal at 'Ohana were the appetizers.

Kona is much better food-wise. If you are looking more for entertainment and just OK food, then 'Ohana would be your choice.
:teacher:

I would do both but if you need to choose I would go with 'Ohana since you have tried Kona before. IMHO, 'Ohana has the best dessert at WDW.

However, make sure you can book 'Ohana at a time you like before cancelling Kona. 'Ohana can be hard to get.

I have been to Ohana 3 times, and Kona twice - we are Ohana lovers!!! I like Kona, too, but I vote to try Ohana since you have already tried Kona. Ohana has AMAZING dessert - it's a bananas foster bread pudding that my hubby and I just love. We are locals/Annual Passholders, and we always try to get into Ohana.

Personally, I would. I've looked at Kona and it looks nice; but we really enjoyed Ohana and - if I had the time in our schedule - I'd do Ohana again.

I agree with all these points.

We love Kona, and can't stand 'Ohana - not everyone raves about 'Ohana by the way. It's very hit and miss, and for us after 3x, it's always a miss, but we have only done breakfast, so I can't actually comment on dinner. We have no desire to eat there for dinner.

That being said, as the other posters have mentioned, they bring around a lot of food at 'Ohana for dinner, and so you could stuff your hungry teens for sure.

Kona food is very good, and is actually plentiful, but not as plentiful as an all you care to eat meal.

Good luck with your decision, Tiger :)

We're trying to make this same decision.

It seems it be very mixed what people think.

OP, could you post a poll in this thread?
