I have to cancel one dinner ADR and this may be it. After reading some trip reports and searching some threads, I've read a lot of spicy meats at dinner. My DF will not eat anything spicy, and really doesn't eat much meat to begin with. I'm thinking of changing this to Coral Reef, as he loves fish. Is the meat actually that spicy and is it worth it dining there with someone that doesn't eat alot of meat?

I think it's worth eating there, and I don't remember there being alot of spicey food. I can't eat spicey and hot food, and there was alot to pick from. Boma was my favorite restaurant last year, and I made an ADR for it this year too! I may even schedule 2 meals there!

If he loves fish you may want to pass on coral reef. The menu is very limited and none of it is very interesting.

I wouldn't. I'm vegetarian, not vegan though, and I love Boma. There's plenty there for non-meat eaters in my opinion. However, we are doing Coral Reef as well this Oct., but if I was forced to pick, I would stick with Boma.

I'm thinking of switching from a dinner to a lunch. Allears lists salmon sandwhich, catfish, and mahi mahi on the menu for Coral Reef. My main worry is he wouldn't like anything at Boma, although they list grilled seafood on the menu(not sure about the spices or what type of seafood).

There are some spicey dishes at Boma but they are definitely in the minority. The food is wonderful. Coral Reef has a wonderful atmosphere but I would say the food is good, though not great. IMHO it comes down to atmosphere (CR)vs. food (Boma).

I didn't think anything at Boma was "spicy" but it was seasoned a little differently than typical American fare. Nothing was so strong that it assaulted me. The meat tasted pretty normal. Some of the salads were a little different, but there was plenty of stuff that tasted normal.

I can't comment on Coral Reef since it has been so long since I've eaten there that I'm sure my experience is no longer valid.

I thought Boma was FABULOUS!! The meat was definately not that spicey. I think the only thing I thought was spicey were the ribs, and they were labeled that way. They did offer some Salmon at Boma as well.

I think you should give it a try. The desserts are also wonderful!!

I didn't like Boma, but it wasn't because it was spicey. It just didn't live up to the expectations of WONDERFUL and FABULOUS. It was OK, I didn't think the food was very good, but it wasn't bad.
