Canadians renting Vans

I posted this regarding rental vans and upgrading to a bigger size. Very curious if Canadians have noticed this situation.

We were also supposed to arrive four hours early, due to Air Canada changing flight to 5 AM and rental car was going to charge $300 more for getting van earlier. We had booked it back in August for $293 Cdn (total cost) for 8 days. Very good price.

Turns out we were delayed in Toronto anyway and arrived at time van was booked for.

Who was the rental agency? Alamo??

We rent with National and when you go to the lot to pick it out (we use Emerald Reserve) there are always GRAND Caravans, Montavna SV6 EX., Buick Terraza, etc. Alamo has the same kind just a couple of rows over from National. We drive a regular size van, so I know all of these vans are larger than ours for sure. So it was a scam to try and get more money out of you ... Alamo is famous for it and that is why I will never use them again after our first horrid experience when I was not "disboard-experienced" ... learned a lot since then and now like to go to the lot, pick my own, and drive through the little window ... all of a half hour to do it with carseats, etc ... much easier than standing in a line (for TWO hours the first time with a CRANKY baby wanting to nurse, and a toddler running all over ) ...

Anyways ... they all are trying to improve their sales scores ... scam the customer as much as possible ... sell as much insurance, etc as possible ... it never changes ... sigh

We have used National quite a few times and this time we had Thrifty. The pressure by the agent at the Orlando depot was pretty heavy to keep adding on.
My brother used Alamo and they charged him for insurance he did not need and when he got to our rental home, he phoned and they said he would get a full refund, which he did!
