Son is thinking of using Davids to rent out his points, they Pay via PayPal. He is Canadian, how are Canadians transferring paypal US funds to a US bank account? he Would rather not transfer to Canadian $ because of the loss re the exchange being a lower rate,

I just suck up the exchange rate. I wish I could use PayPal to pay our dues. Apparently there may be a work around by buying disney gift cards on target.com with PayPal then using those gift cards to pay dues. I may try it with some US $ I have sitting in PayPal before our next dues are due

I don't think you can, unless you have a USD account attached to a US bank (not a Canadian based USD account). If you have the former, you can link PayPal to it and keep the funds in USD.

I rent out on my own and if the renter is a US citizen, I have them send me a check which I deposit into my USD account.

I buy Disney e-gift cards on the Shop Disney website, then use them when I travel down there or to pay my dues.

Can you tell me how you do this ? Every time I try to purchase gift cards via PayPal on Shop Disney it tells me I am unable because my PayPal billing address is Canadian. Do you have a US-based credit card linked up to your PayPal? I get so frustrated every time I try that I just give up!

As some has said, you must have a US bank account attached to it...we have RBC US account,,,our paypal is in US dollars, and I have my renters pay into that,,,then transfer right to RBC,,,,and then we pay our monthly dues from there.

I do the same thing.

One annoying thing is that because I am a Canadian, the default payment in PayPal is Canadian dollars so I have to remind renters to always select US$. Anyway to fix that?

Are you purchasing a physical gift card or an e-gift card? They sell both on the site, so you have to make sure you specifically select an e-gift card. I haven't had any issues with purchasing with a Canadian address. I don't have a US credit card linked to my paypal, nor a US-based USD account, which is why I do it this way instead. I do request when I get sent payment from a renter, that they select that I receive funds in USD. Like @DougEMG stated above, PayPal automatically converts payment to your country's currency, so renters have to specifically select for me to receive USD. Then I just use my PayPal balance when checking out on the Shop Disney site.

Seems odd that David's (itself a Canadian company, unless things have changed) wouldn't just pay fellow Canadians in CAD.

Problem is, which exchange rate do they use? Exchange rates fluctuate in real time. Contracts are based in USD for obvious reasons.

It was a couple years ago the first last tried so I will give it a go again. Sounds like I’ve got a similar set up so fingers crossed. Thanks !

just a side note... were live in Toronto and have spent the last week in florida and not left property. it felt safe. indoor mask mandates are enforced and they are constantly cleaning. flights were fine and it was easy to get a the PCR with 4 hour results to fly home. So if he did want to use his points it is possible.

i have rented a few times. i would suggest Davids for his first time then once he knows the process use the boards here to rent.
