Canadians and DLP (Disneyland Paris)

We loved DLP, we did find there were more refurbs, more breakdowns, less park restaurants and the available park food was crazy $$. I still think it has become our favourite site. Park hopping was super easy, just like DL Anaheim and walking through the parks in the arcades - covered walkways flanking Main Street, gave this location a relaxed feel. You will have a super time, hey it's Disney, of course you will have a blast!

I'm a bit confused by this ... do you mean you missed your stop and didn't realize until you asked someone OR do you mean that the train never reached your stop and for some reason just started backtracking? I'm assuming you eventually got to where you needed to be, but was it a long delay or anything?

No we didn't miss the stop, we were a few stops away from it and suddenly the train switched directions and started going back the way it had come. We had to get off the train and wait for another train to come along. Someone on the train told us it happens all the time and the announcement will come over. But we don't understand french that well so we didn't know. We noticed it going the opposite direction and stops we had already seen. It wasn't a huge delay maybe like 30 mins because it was a few stops before we knew what was going on.

Oh, ok. This makes more sense now. Thanks for clarifying for me - definitely something to be aware of!

We spent two weeks in Paris last July, after three weeks in London, Venice, Barcelona and a 12 night Med Cruise. Best. Vacation. Ever. And Paris was the icing on the cake. Definitely my favourite place in the world. :)

I ordered DLP tickets online ahead of time and printed out the vouchers, which worked just fine. The RER ride out to the park was super easy and took us right there. We really enjoyed our day. The parks are smaller and very manageable. Not as big or exciting as WDW but honestly, our kids, after having spent weeks touring museums, galleries, ruins, etc, were just happy to play for the day. And so were we! We had a lot of fun.

I did notice the line-cutters, in some cases they were really bad. One was for Space Mountain. The line was pretty packed and we wanted to go on one last time before heading back to our apartment in Paris. There was a group of four adults (French) who just kept pushing past everyone. At first we were annoyed (Good Canadians that we are, we respected the idea of lining up) but after watching them and their grins/excitement/happiness, honestly we just laughed about it. They really truly didn't think they were doing anything wrong, they just were trying to get on the ride faster. If we let it upset us and ruin our day, that would be our fault not theirs, IMO.

Our day at Disney was really worth it, and definitely something we still talk about. We spent one day at the Harry Potter Studios in England and again that was a highlight (amongst many, since we were in Venice, Athens, Rome, Florence, Istanbul, Mykonos, Naples, etc!!)

Enjoy your cruise, enjoy Paris, and enjoy DLP. :)

Sounds like a great trip!

We've pretty much decided that we're going to go for it ... Two days at the parks and one day in Paris. Trying to figure out logistics. will stay onsite for some if not all days.

Our family went last July. We stayed 4 nights at Newport Beach on property using DVC points.
Cm's were fantastic and just as nice as WDW & DL.
The hotel itself was a dive and quite a bit of a let down. So bad, the bed fell on the floor the first night, mold in the bathroom, peeling paint and wall paper, and wires hanging out of the card swipes in the hall. No AC either and it was hot. Pool had very limited hours. Really not up to Disney standards. Loved that the train was so close and conveinent to seeing other Paris sites.
The parks were very nice. Langage was never as issue anywhere including the attractions. Big thunder Mountain there is our favorite out of all of them. Enjoyed the Crusher Coaster as well ( I think that was it's name). We loved the evening show at the castle. Breathtaking!
Food was okay, not as bad as some of the food we had in France. I thought France was known for its food, but it was so bad all we could do was laugh about it. We did find the Earl of Sandwich and it was just like WDW & DL! Thankgoodness!
Yes, there is quite abit of line cutting and pushing in line. Don't leave an inch and hold your ground!
We have 2 with asthma in our family and there was a lot of smoking, but it didn't bother us. We made out fine!
It was a wonderful experience. Do not go comparing it to WDW or you will be disappointed. It is a taste of Disney in Europe. For us and our kids it was a wonderful break after 2 weeks of touring ancient ruins across Europe. A day to have fun, laugh and realax! Enjoy!

We were on the NCL Spirit out of Venice, July 12th I believe it embarked. It was such a dream trip, I can hardly believe we did it (or that it's over :()

We are planning a road trip to California next summer though to hit up DL for the 3rd time and then I am going to start planning one more big trip overseas (hopefully) before my kids graduate from high school.

That's great! You'll have fun for sure! The parks are much smaller, more compact and less rides than the US versions, but in some ways that worked to our advantage when you only have one or two days. You can relax and not feel so rushed to see everything in a short amount of time. Have fun!

I did Disneyland Paris in 2011 before a Med cruise out of Barcelona.
.
It was beautiful, I only stayed 1 night, but almost 2 full days and I saw everything I wanted to see with the exception of the fireworks, as I did not sleep much on the plane trip from Toronto.

This website was so helpful, I took the train from Charles Dee Gaaulle Airport.

I did try to book through a CANADIAN TA, , but she said she was not able to, so I went to the Disneyland Paris forum here and got the tips about booking through the UK site and was able to get a great deal. I stayed at the SantaFee, nothing special but I took the bus from the train station and then I figured out that walking was not too far and I did that. Having the extra hour in the morning was great as the park was empty.

Disneyland is beautiful the garden were wonderful. Beware as everyone says, lines are not the same as at home, and smoking in the lines and around kids is hard to avoid.

That's awesome! We did DL at March Break and it is now our favorite! Loved being able to walk everywhere and not having to book dinners and fast passes months in advance! I also thought the cast was top notch! Enjoy and happy planning!!!!!

Thanks! We're really looking forward to it. For the first time, my girls will be old enough to do some of the park on their own and will have some friends along as we are planning the trip with 3 other families, and renting a vacation home for a week. :)
