Canadian with questions

As we hit the 5 day mark till leaving I'm wondering ...

-how much do the toll booths cost to get from the airport to a hotel on International Drive? Will they take change or do we pay with the bills? If we need change, can we use our canadian change or is there somewhere at the airport to do this?

-we are staying off site and get to buy snacks and food for the hotel. There are food items you all enjoy down there that us Canadians don't get up here. Tell me what I MUST have while down there (anything food related will do).

-Cocoa Beach or Clearwater Beach? (no need to convince me the beach is too cold, it's -33 with winds gusting to 35km/hr here right now ... anything is warmer than here)

-What time does it get dark down there?

Not sure about your first question, we always fly in. If you have Canadian change, I would think it would be ok but I also live in Buffalo where get tons of Canadian change and no one bats an eye about it. They may have currency exchange at the airport but not sure. If you have a CAA near you, even if you're not a member, you can go in and buy these things called "Tip Packs". Usually for about $100 CAD you can get about $90-$100 USD, depending on the exchange (honestly it's usually a bad exchange rate). They are pre-packaged so you can only get them in $100 increments and they usually have them on hand. It's meant for people traveling to other countries to have some cash on hand for tips, etc, hence the name "tip packs". Were you planning on just using credit cards for everything else? It is good to have some American money on hand for things like tolls, tips, vending machines, etc. I'm sure there's currency exchange somewhere on Disney property.

As far as the beaches, I'm sure someone else can answer this better, but I was not impressed with Cocoa Beach. I was only there for a day before a cruise but found it to be kind of trashy... no offense to anyone if you're from there, it just wasn't what I was expecting. Have never been to Clearwater Beach.

Thanks ... we've already exchanged all our Canadian spending money, but I was wondering how much the tolls cost to go through and if we should find some american change before we try to go through. Are these automated or is there someone there to give us change?

im unsure how much the tolls are now, and it depends on how far out you are...there are several booths on the "b" line express or something like that. when i was a cashier i'd put any american change aside in my till and buy it at the end of the day. never hurts to have a few dollars worth. im not sure if you can buy rolls of american change at the banks up here tho before you head down. if not, i'd see if you could hit up a friend or relative that may have some excess american change kicking around. enjoy!!!
