OK - I have to post this.....because I just finished my last one!

You know when they say, "The grass is greener" it is most certainly true! I sure do miss my Canadian stuff! (Tim's, Harvey's, anything President's choice, Coffee Crisp, etc.)

But.......I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bacardi Breezer - Tropical Orange Smoothie coolers!!!:drinking1

You see, here in Georgia they are not allowed to put alcohol in coolers. Hence, Mikes Hard is this disgusting sludge-like tasting stuff - the crud on the bottom of the beer barrel!! Some sort of malt beverage......

If you ever come to Georgia, remember - if it looks like a Mikes, smells like a Mikes - CHECK THE LABEL - it's not a real Mikes!

Anyway.....

I tried the Bacardi's during our trip last summer, and yum. Of course I had to take a trip at Thanksgiving to the LCBO to marvel at the cooler section, and get my copy of "Food and Drink" (love this mag.....)

Crossing the boarder to the US, the Customers Officer asked what I had - and I replied with a big smile......12 coolers!!

Funny, he didn't say anything - just gave me this weird look. So much for Homeland security...me and my coolers!

I had to share some with my Mikes Hard-sludge-drinking-Jaw-jah-redneck-friends and they are hooked (it must be the rum!), so dwindled my dozen!

Alas, we are moving back soon........so I'll be OK.

Just had to cry over my last :sad1: for a little while.....

Hope y'all are enjoying your Bacardi's, and mini Halloween sized Coffee Crisps, Smarties, Caramilk and Areo bars too!!

:sunny:

So, where are you moving back to? Ontario?

I'm sure there will be things you miss from Georgia once you are here. I'm not a big cooler fan. I do miss Tim's when we go to Florida though. You'd be surprised at home many have popped up in NY state close to the border though.

Enjoy Georgia while you can!

We are coming home - to the Toronto area.

We are moving back Dec/Jan - just in time for the dead of winter

We'll really miss the weather. Everyone is whining that it's really cold outside now  It was 70F today!

Also, we'll miss the people. Everyone is so nice here and we've made some really good friends. It's so true what they say about people from the South. :)

smiles are on the faces of those waiting at "home"...:)

You'll be back to Ont just in time to plan a winter getaway at WDW:)

I will have a Coffee Crisp and an Aero for you right now(I have my own stash so no need to raid the kids bags, hehehe)but no Smarties(those are nasty)

Hey, I moved south from Montréal in 1986 and still miss soooo much! OK for starters, curd cheese (essential ingredient to Poutine of course) and Red River cereal.
They have actually started bringing Liberté yogourt into New England at least, which is always a treat - where else can you have the deliciousness of 8% butterfat in your yogourt.

Oh, and I miss reasonable politicians (Stockwell Day aside, you all do OK;)), having just endured the last election and lots of certifiable whackos getting elected.

Oh I whole-heartedly agree with this!

I really miss Harvey's, Pizza Pizza, and going to a bar and ordering a Caesar.

Of course, I much prefer living here and being a hop-skip-and jump from Windsor, I can always pop over and pick up essentials like the 12-pack of Waterloo Dark and Rickard's Red that is sitting upstairs. The coffee crisp and Aero bars are great too but don't forget All-dressed chips! :p

Not to mention, the awesome Icewine I always pickup when visiting my parents in Niagara that we're going to enjoy next week while having dinner at Palo on the Wonder :)

StuartMI-have a great time! Enjoy the wine. Can't wait to hear all about your cruise when you return.

BTW-it was -5 here last night-there was a sheet of ice on my deck :(

I can relate to this thread. We moved to Houston, from Oshawa, ON in 2000. Here's a web-site for us canadians in the US, who miss the finer things in life....

Always Canadian

You're right about Harvey's... the best burger in the world!

Enjoy!

If I don't see another KitKat, Aero bar, or box of Smarties till...umm...well, next Halloween, that'll be soon enough!

I love the LCBO's Food & Drink magazine!! ::yes:: We collect lots of Airmiles there...;)

How did this turn into a best burger thread? Another vote for Harveys!! :teeth:

Kim

Kim,just how many Air Miles do you collect from the LCBO??;)

Another vote here for Harvey's(as long as I have some gravy to dip it in,YUM!)

That's so funny....when my sister-in-law went to WDW with me last year, she stopped and got some "Mike's Hard Lemonade", she's back at the hotel, relaxing after a hard "run" around WDW, open's up her Mike's:drinking1 , throws it back and THEN almost
1puke.gif
splits it right out...she quickly turns the can/bottle around and reads the ingredients and yells " I can't believe these guys put 'beer' in their coolers down there!" - just too funny, to see someone else experincing the U.S. switcherooo in coolers too.

Curd cheese, poutine, REAL french fries ( why are there no chip stands here, they would make a mint ) Caesars, President's Choice, Montreal restaurants.......sigh..........

I forgot about Harvey's......still call it Chez Harvey ;)

It's the first stop for DD when returning to Canada!

Also Maple Leaf Hotdogs. DH has been know to bring 1/2 doz or so packages in his carryon for the kids!

timC - thanks for the website! You should have heard the ooohs and ahhhs when I went over the product offerings.

Kelly, Mary Beth....tsk tsk tsk....lol. :p

We get most of our Airmiles from Shell, second runner up, the LCBO. So there it is, wine and gas! :teeth:

Gosh, I haven't had Red River cereal in years! On purpose. :p

Sorry that your thread has been somewhat hi-jacked, Y&K. :o :D
