Canadian snowbirds and confirmation of proof of Florida residency.

Hi All !

Have any Canadian Snowbirds been successful in proving proof of Florida residency in order to obtain a Florida Resident Discover Disney Ticket ?

If so, what forms of proof did you use ?

Currently, Florida residents can purchase a 4-Day Discover Disney Ticket for just $60 per day, plus tax and all adults will need to show proof of Florida residency at the park entrance

This is far less than the price I'm scheduled to pay for our 4 day park tickets in April using the Canadian discount that was offered.

We have a park model trailer, but lease the land. We do have a valid registration for the trailer indicating our Florida address, as well as a Spectrum cable TV invoice with our Florida address.

Our photo ID's (drivers licenses and passports) do not have any Florida addresses.

I've emailed Disney directly looking for confirmation or clarification and currently waiting on a reply. I'm just interested in knowing if anyone else was successful or not.

I posted this elsewhere earlier today. Every adult must be able to provide proof of FL Residency based on the list below.


From the WDW website:
For each ticket or pass purchased for an adult, you may provide any of the following:

• Valid Florida driver’s license (must have a Florida address)
• Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
• Valid Florida-based military ID

*For your convenience, Florida residents with any of the above listed identification can now verify their residency online, which means you can bypass Guest Relations and go straight to the parks! Simply fill out the “Your Florida Resident Information” form upon check-out when you purchase tickets through Disneyworld.com or complete the “Customize Your Tickets” step when you purchase through the My Disney Experience app.

If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then you must provide one of the following—dated within the past 2 months—evidencing a Florida residential address, along with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):

Proof of Current Mortgage You may use a monthly mortgage statement from within the past 2 months; it may not be more than 2 months old. Deeds, mortgage contracts, mortgage payment booklets and leases are not accepted.

Bills, Policies or Registration

• Current homeowner's insurance policy or bill
• Current automobile registration, insurance policy or bill
• Current Utility bill (power / phone / cable / water)
• Bills can be no more than 2 months old (P.O. Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency)

Mail

• Mail from financial institutions, including checking, savings or investment account statements
• Mail from federal, state, county or city government agencies
• Mail can be no more than 2 months old (P.O. Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency)

Just wondering that when it actually comes down to showing up at the gate, how successful (or unsuccessful) any "Canadians" have been in prooving Florida residency.

As long as you have the proper documentation referencing a FL address you'll be fine. There are many partial-year residents in FL, regardless of where they live the rest of the year.

Sorry if doubling down on an a question that's already been answered.

Does anyone know if the If the corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card) has to be FL issued ?

My photo ID's are Canadian, but have FL addressed trailer registration as well as cable bill.

Or are the photo ID's just needed to confirm my identify and not my residency ?

Do you already have tickets? I don’t believe they will “switch” and refund the difference. You can hold the CAN tickets as a credit to upgrade to future tickets of equal or greater value if you decide to buy the FL tickets.

I'm reluctant to remove my Canadian discounted tickets from my cart for the FL Discovery tickets before I know if my part-time status in FL is considered acceptable, based on the documents that I have available

I'm sure that my worries are unwarranted. However, if I removed my Canadian discounted tickets from my cart and added the Discovery tickets, I want some assurances that when I get to the park gate that my documents will be acceptible.

Otherwise, I'll likely have lost the ability to get the Canadian discounted ticket price and have pay full price for the tickets.

I’m not sure I understand … final payment on the tickets? That implies a deposit was made, so I don’t know the terms on cancelling or not making final payment.

If you have a document listed above showing a FL address, I’m not sure what else I can say. Whether it is worth a 2-3 hour drive is something only you can decide.

Resolution. We have our Florida resident tickets in hand ! All I brought for confirmation of residency was our trailer registration (which they didn't even ask for) and the letters from the US Bank when they sent our debit cards to us (showing our US address)....it wasn't even a bank statement ! Along with some Canadian photo ID's.

The ticketcenter at Disney Springs couldn't remove the exisiting discounted Canadian resident tickets from our reservation so we had to purchase the Florida resident tickets upfront and then call the "resort booking dept" ? to have the Canadian discounted tickets removed.

Easy-peazy we saved ourselves $500 US !

We weren't sure how this was all going to go so we drove from Tampa to Disney Springs to speak with a CM in person to ensure a smooth transaction. Spent 4 hours touring Disney Springs and boy was it crowded ! NFL Pro Bowl weekend and Cheer Competitions going on.
