Canadian Rockies Pictures

No, I don't have any. I want to see some. We're planning a trip this summer covering Calgary, Vancouver, and lots of stuff in between. I'd love to see pictures of places we shouldn't miss.

Unfortunately I'm too new to the DISboards to post pictures or links, so I can't show you my photos from my many trips to the Rockies, but seeing as how I live an hour away from them, these are my recommendations:

Definitely see Lake Lousie and Banff. Lake Louise is breathtaking any time of the year no matter how many times you've seen it, and Banff is such a pretty little town that it's a must-do for anyone.

Hopefully someone will be able to show you some pictures!

I've discovered the magic number is 10 posts for posting photos, and just passed that.

I have a few pictures from a trip in late '05. I had just gotten my new Nikon D50, and was still trying to figure it out being new to the whole DSLR world, so these were the best ones I got. I'm overdue for a trip to the Rockies, hopefully next time my shots will get better! Until then, I'll settle for these:

Driving around the Rockies. There's a lot of places on the road to pull over and get some nice shots!

Best shot I have of the town of Banff.

Tons of wildlife around! These mountain sheep were in the middle of the road and had cars stopped and/or slowed to pass and take photos. Licking off the salt on the tires of a vehicle!​

Since you're going to be in Vancouver, you really should go and see Butchart Gardens on Victoria Island (a ferry ride from Vancouver, IIRC). Very pretty and nicely done landscaping with several different "venues". Lots of really good photo ops. (I'm at work now or I'd post some shots from a couple years ago).

Funny--dh and I were talking about Banff just the other night. Couldn't agree more with the suggestion to visit there and Lake Louise. In fact, here's me at the Chateau Lake Louise circa 1989 (please disregard the big hair and low quality scan ).

My pictures cannot begin to do justice to the beauty of that place. I really want to get back there someday. Of course, dh wants to go there to ski, and I'm a warm weather gal, so I'm not sure how that will work out.

Anyway, have a fantastic trip--you'll no doubt get some amazing pictures. Please share them with us!
