Hello DIS.
As the title describes we have a 5 day park hopper and a 3 day single park Canadian resident tickets that we were not able to use. I am hoping that people might have some insight into some an issue that might occur.

After some digging I have found out that these have had their expiration date extended out to December 15, 2022 (which is great) and as I understand it even if they are not used by the expiration date they will still retain there value. I am going to have to phone Disney to find out where the tickets went (as they have disappeared of the app) but the question that I have is this: If we are not able to use them by the Dec 15/22 expiry date how will we be able to make park reservations without valid park admission. I understand that you can go to the ticket booth there and get new valid tickets but there is no way we are going to fly down with out the assurance of being able to go to the parks..

I will be asking this when I phone Disney but was wondering if anyone here has had experience with this issue and if there is a work around for it. If we have to go before the expiry date then so be it lol but you never know haw things might be in the future with Covid.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

If they expire you will be able to make reservations that will be cancelled the minute you are able to exchange them at the ticket booth for tickets you can actually use. There are a bunch of threads about this floating around, if I were you I would use them before they expire to save myself the hassle since reservations don't seem to be going anywhere in the near future.

Dig up your confirmations before calling to make it easier.

I think Canadians were offered refunds. Idk if that’s still available but I’d definitely inquire about it as it would be the easiest!

We had someone from the UK who bought from UT (an online TA) and Disney offered them a refund if they bought new tickets worth more (unique because US purchasers of TA tickets generally haven’t been offered that option if they didn’t buy direct from Disney).

I was there in Sept without my kids and asked about the options for my boys partially used tickets (we were there the night DL closed In 2020). After much discussion the cast member gave me the ticket address to mail them back for a refund on the unused portion. It ended up being moot because as I was sitting in the tiki room thinking about all the lost opportunities for my boys I upgraded to a Magic Key and booked us back in December. Lol So refund is still an option but it would be a bit of a hassle.

FWIW, I had a little issue adding a day to my boys tickets on our Dec trip. When we went to scan into DCA on the extra 2 days we added to their tickets, they werent showing up as valid (even though I had their paper ticket showing we had added days.) The lead CM at the GCH entrance worked some pixie dust and basically issued my boys in on a new ticket on the spot, and told us to come back the next day and she would do the same. Really stellar service.

Just wanted to give you examples of what has happened with the Cdn resident tix in case you upgrade the single day tix.

I am in the same situation. We have 4 days of single park tickets purchased with the Canadian resident discount, which we plan to use in August. The tickets disappeared from the app sometime in 2020. I look forward to hearing how your phone call with Disney goes.

I had Canadian resident discount tickets. 10 day hoppers. I called to find out what happened do them and they quoted me 600$ to upgrade them to be able to use them this summer. Does that seem excessive to anyone? I've heard some people didn't have to pay a thing so I'm a bit annoyed. I bought them Feb 2020. Tell me ticket prices increased that much!!!??? I get that we lose the discount but if I read correctly above, if their expiry was extended to Dec 2022 does that mean I shouldn't have had to pay to use them this summer?

Call again for this; we had 5 day park hoppers purchased pre-pandemic and they just moved them to this year instead; no payment needed. As long as they are the Canadian resident tickets I don't see why yours wouldn't be the same situation.

Really? Wow. I'm almost afraid to call again for fear they'll tell me I have to pay even more. Yours were also Canadian discount?
Yes, and we didn't know there had been a further extension so we were expecting to have to pay the difference. It was a very pleasant surprise to find out it just transferred over neatly.

In fact, since we had Maxpass on ours we were told we would receive the difference for that via a gift card. Now to see if that actually happens of course...

Are these Disneyland tickets or Disney World tickets? I didn't know there was a 10-day ticket for the California parks.

WDW tickets impacted by the pandemic were extended through Sept. 2021, and would likely require addition expense to upgrade to current tickets at this point. Or you could downgrade to a shorter ticket that more closely fits the value. You should not lose the original discount, but ticket prices did increase some considerably depending on your dates.

What’s annoying about this Sept 2021 expiration date is that I don’t think we were even allowed to go to the U.S. by then. How were we supposed to use our tickets?

Good question. Does anyone know what DisneyLAND extended to May 2021, then December 2021, then December 2022, but not DisneyWORLD?

What’s interesting is that the Disneyland expiry date of Dec 2022 applies to Canadian resident tickets specifically, but the WDW ticket expiry date of Sept 2021 applies to Canadian *and* American ticket holders—no mention of the Canadian resident discount.

Obviously, Americans could use their tickets by Sept 2021, but Canadians could not.

Weird.
