Canadian MIL gift help!!

I am at a loss as to what to get my MIL. We usually draw names, but b/c she is going through a really messy divorce and there is no plans in the near future for a visit, we decided not to do that this year. I still would like to get something wonderful for her but I am drawing blanks. MIL is in Orangeville, Ontario (near Toronto) so anything I would want to get her I would want to try to order from a Canadian website. I have thought about gift baskets and such but I have little knowledge about Canadian companies. Does anyone know of any good websites?

Well, you could sign up to recieve the Groupons from the nearest large city, that might give you some ideas. (www.groupon.com) Canadian cities intermingled on the list. A lot of the groupons are for websites, so browse the Canadian cities while you are on the site....

I really want to make my MIL happy and forget about the not so nice guy that she is getting rid of. He's been doing alot of dishonest things and with us not being able to be there for support, I want to do something really nice for her. So please any ideas are welcome!!

OP, could you possibly contact her hairstylist and get her a gift certificate for a day of beauty? maybe a new haircut and a mani/pedi? my thinking is this: if she's going through a divorce, she might not be feeling so good about herself, and a little pampering might be just what she needs to lift her spirits.

In Canada, we have many of the same companies , especially around the Toronto area. I like the suggestion for a spa day. Look at yellowpages.ca in her area for a spa, or just google something for her area (or Brampton area). Theres also sephora or MAC if she's into that kind of thing.

You could always get her a gift certificate for something like bath and body works, body shop, or fruits and passion.

You could always get her a fruit basket arrangement from ediblearrangements.ca

You could try amazon.ca

If she's into electronics, you could do futureshop.ca or bestbuy.ca

There are some really good clothing stores around the Toronto area, but it all depends on what she is into. Could you possible get her just a generic GC from a mall close by?

If she's into wine, you can get some shipped to her from wineonline.ca

I was going to suggest tickets to a show or theatre event. Is she into theatre? Toronto has some wonderful Broadway shows playing. Take a look at this website for some shows coming to Toronto http://www.toronto-theatre.com/
