I am interested in changing my spare room into a scrapping room but I am having a hard time finding storage (bins for paper etc). I see all kinds on American websites but with duty and shipping the cost is prohibitive. Where do you get your storage? Any hints and suggestions would be appreciated.

I just redid part of my basement family room into my scrapbook area. I searched hi and lo for storage solutions (I went everywhere including Ikea) and this is what I settled on. To store my paper I bought some steel cubes at Costco for less than $20 (you assemble) and this made 4 huge cubes. You can use the extra grids to separate the paper, you just use cable ties to hold the grids together. For the storage of my albums and supplies, I bought 2 pantry units and placed them in the entry way on either side of the room. I used photo boxes and baskets in various sizes (from the Dollar Store) to organize all my supplies (and everything is labelled). I could not believe all the suff I had when I started to organize everything but now that it is organized I can get my pages done quicker because I can find anything I need. It was such a relief to finally have my scrapbooking stuff all organized because I spent the entire Labour Day Weekend working on my room (and I didn't take any pictures of all my stuff all over the room - I guess I really didn't want people to see just how much stuff I really do have!!!!)

Good luck on your room.

Where are all the canadian scrapbookers? Surely I'm not the only one in Canada that had a scrapbook area in their home. I was hoping to see what other Canadian scrappers were using for the storage of their scrapbbok supplies.

I have been looking pretty steadily and I did find a 72" high white pantry at Home Depot for $115. It is 17" deep so I could store all my paper vertically. Almost all my other stuff would fit in there as well because I saw these great cloth boxes at Toys R US in the baby section which I love (Ikeas has them cheaper). I also found at Home Hardware this material my DH is going to make into a desk for me. It looks like white counter top but it is only 1/2 inch thick and does not have the high back of a counter top. It comes in four and six foot lenghts so what I want is a corner desk 4 feet on one wall and 6 on the other with the pantry thing on the end of the 6 foot side. This will allow us to get rid of the crappy little computer desk we use now and put it all on one. The computer on the 4 foot side and my stuff on the 6 foot side. This same material also comes in shelf sizes which he will put on the wall above my side.

Now if only I can convince him that all this is a necessity and that I have to have it now instead of when I go back to work and we have more money (I am on mat leave).

I Am A Canadian Scrapper But I Do Not Have A Scrapbbok Room. I Live In A Basement Apt. No Room. My Friend Was Able To Find A Great Storage Cont For Her Paper At A Scrapbook Store In Mississauga That Stacked Up. I Also Found A Great Bag At Michaels That Folds Up That Holds 12x12 Paper . Good Luck With Your Room I Wish I Had The Space.
