Canadian Cusine

In the case of the U.S. Targets, they are the only store I have seen that sells bananas by the banana, not by the pound.

I believe all of Target's fresh produce is sold by the each, bananas, potatoes, peppers, etc. I'm not sure if their scanners even have scales built into them.

My company, a chain of convenience stores, also sells bananas, apples, and oranges by the each.

Can Y'all put your torches and pitchforks away please.

Your constant nit-picking on every single comment TV Guy makes is WAY more disruptive to the thread than anything TV Guy says.

I try and be a stereotypical courteous Canadian, but for crying out loud KNOCK IT OFF!

That's so weird. Do they do the same thing for other fruit and vegetables? I've only seen that at places like delis that have bananas/apples/etc. to add to your lunch.

I did not have a comment to add, nor did I think was necessary, and as is evidenced here, some take issue with my comments on Canada. Although I suspect some have purchased the ingredients for their Canadian Cuisine at Target.

The diverse comment refers to the direction the Target thread has taken, similar to this one did, in that people....many appearing to be Canadians living in Canada,.......have sharply different opinions about what things are like in Canada.

Similar to the USA, Canada is a big country. I've been living here my entire life and I only tried my first Saskatoon berry two or three years ago. I bet if you live in the prairies you would think that is weird. East coast to West coast there are many different things that make Canada unique and every canadian experience is not the same.

Yes, it did go :offtopic:. Christmas Crackers, and "Bags" of Milk? not cuisine..
Just saying.. morphed.

Christmas Crackers contain a treat; last time I checked milk was food. Food unique to Canada, they fit the discussion, Target's failure in Canada doesn't.

That makes sense. I have never looked.

Spin it anyway you want but you post had zero relevance to anything that was being discussed in this thread.

Your opinion is welcome, but as you can see, others also disagree.

Fruitcake for sure.

I'm as deep south as you can get and we 'always' had fruit cake - thought it was a southern thing!! Had mostly nuts with some fruit - not just those 'fruity' fruit cakes!! ;)

I find it funny a Canadian is asking about Canadian food. :rotfl:

Actually, the only thing that makes me think Canadian is maple syrup, actually two things, the other is Beaver tails - learned that one at Epcot!! :)

What I remember the most about visiting Canada several years ago was no restaurants that served breakfast around Niagra Falls!! :confused3

Would really like to know what 'screams Canadian' to Canadian folks???

When you posted your link and for many posts after, this thread wasn't talking about Target closing in Canada. It has only gone that way recently because I have dumb enough to give you a platform to continue commenting about it. My bad for not remembering your posting style.

The poster was talking about milk in bags (as in novelty) NOT the milk go back, and read same.
The Christmas Cracker treat being an edible I'll grant you that!

Thanks for explaining things for me; it's a huge help.

Not sure the issue you have. This is a Discussion Board and just like when a group talks face to face, the original topic may be left behind.

According to the commercial I just saw, VH sauces "scream" Canadian. Not sure I've ever cooked with them, personally.

Yes, agree to disagree, and please let it go.

I use VH sauces especially the sweet and sour sauce.

"Screams Canadian" to me would be the Atlantic province of Newfoundland's foods. Moose meat, seal flippers, and cod for instance.

North of Mouse: upthread:. Regarding Brkfst in Niagara Falls. We have Denny's, The Skylon (buffet), 2 casinos (resort style buildings), and many other restaurants especially adjacent to the hotels proper that serve breakfast. Tripadviser.ca a good recommendation source. Unless, you're looking for other than typical Canadian/American cuisine. Then again I think you may find other culture brkfst foods as well. Bon Appetit!
