Canadian coins in Penny/quarter presses?

I have heard rumours abound that the penny/quarter pressing machines will take Canadian currency - does anyone know if that is true, or had an experience with this?

My girlfriend has decided to go crazy collecting them (I made the mistake of printing of the grand list of where to find them all!!! and anytime I don't have to pay that crazy exchange rate I'm a much happier camper......

Canadian coins are made of a more durable metal, and don't press as easily as the american coins. They won't form into a perfect oval and sometimes, not always, you can still see the writings on the coins. The best coins to use are american coins manufactured before 1982. They are the best coins, and the most pressable. After 1982, they began to use a stronger metal to make their pennies. As for quarters, I can't really say. But if you were to compare a canadian quarter to an american quarter, you will see the difference. I started collecting american pennies and coins and am amazed at how quickly they have added up. I have over 100 USD pennies, about 40 are over the age 1982. If you have "dirty" pennies (brown or green gunk on them that you want to remove to make them shinny again) soak them in salt and vinegar for about 5 minutes and then just dry them off. They will shiny and new again in no time...

We've tried using Canadian pennies in the past and they've been rejected by the machines. But since American pennies are almost as useless as Canadian ones (and you do tend to get a lot of them in change here anyway) we don't mind using them.

Darkwing, you said you printed off a master list of where to find all the machines. Our 12yo DS and taken a shine to collecting pressed pennies - where can we find that list?

I don't know how accurate they are and........

I don't want to be responsible for creating a penny/quarter pressing monster - (I already created one in my girlfriend.) We are going to try and attempt to get all the "movies" which are the quarter machines spread around the various resorts throughout WDW. It should make for an interesting trip - a good excuse to check out the Resorts I guess!
