Canadian cell service in WDW

I am on the Telus Mike phone for business. I used my phone to call back to Peterborough many times from the "World" and it cost me less than ONE yes that is correct, ONE phone call from disney on a payphone calling collect that was only maybe ten minutes long! My phone worked great as it switches over to nextel when I cross the border. Telus Mike and Nextel cover each others service. Just check with your service provider before you go to see if you are covered. Also I have heard that Bell has a plan just for short time travel in the USA that will cover all your long distance and short distance for a couple weeks. Again that is only a rumour I heard so check it out before you go.

I have done some research on the whole GMRS thing, and have come up with an issues but don't really know how they can inforce it.

In the U.S. the FCC requires that you have a licence to operate a GMRS radio. I do find it hard for them to determine how to find who is using it inside a place like WDW or what they would do about it.

You are correct about teh liscence but we used a set last year and no one was the wiser. I mean how could they honestly tell who in the entirty of WDW is actually using GMRS radios with a liscence they would have to check every person coming into the parks at the entrance.

Well being the smart guy I am I had another word for it but I can't use it on here LOL I asked them if coming from Canada where they do not need to be liscenced how they go about checking them when we bring them in to the US LOL I just had to ask.

Have you seen the FRS radios around? They are about the size of a cell phone non flip that is and they all come with belt clips for carrying them. Ok so as for the liscence thing that people are worried about I posted teh ? on a motorcycle race forum I belong to and low and behold one of the guys that hangs out there works for the FCC in the US and what he told me is this of the probably 10 million FRS radios sold in the US about 1% of them get liscenced for use yes they all get used but barely anyone pays for the liscence. As for checking up on them they pretty much gave up on it as they would be forever trying to find the GMRS signals and track down the owners and it just isn't worth the time and effort it would take so consider the liscence a moot point especially coming from Canada where they know we do not have to liscence them.

Anyone know if TELUS offers the same type of Florida plan that Bell does? If not, I'll check and post the answer.
