I was actually thinking of trying walkie talkies in the parks next time we go because I hate cell phones, haha. My hubs has one (very sophisticated...) and I was given his old one (it has wifi but no phone capabilities) so I am thinking I might just use mine with wifi and the facebook texting or something like that if I cannot get walkie talkies that have good enough range. I am a child at heart, haha.

Facebook Messenger has calling capabilities now. You can also get other wifi/data based free app (like WhatsApp or WeChat) for calls and texts if you like. Less devices to carry!

The walkie talkies sound like fun ... I'm assuming they allow these in the Parks?

It's great that DisneyWorld has WIFI ... gives you more options than Disneyland which does not have WIFI.

Update on me: I finally decided to go with cheap entry level phone since I will be travelling with it and decided I didn't want to have to worry about "babying" an expensive cell phone. For a day there I went a little crazy and considered buying a premium phone as I totally fell in love with the Google Pixel 128 GB but the price was also crazy so luckily the insanity passed!

I've decided to use ROAM while in the USA. I originally decided on T-Mobile but another Dis'er explained that I would be charged long distance for all the phone calls I'd be making to my husband since he'd be in possession of a Canadian phone number (naively I thought those calls would be considered local since he'd be with us but not true! Long distance charges involved!).

I will post some of my findings on a new thread to "pay forward" all the help that I've received!
