Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Good morning! Coming up for air.

Annnnnd... Breathe! two three four...

Loved the special Lady and the Tramp dinner. Too bad about the card.

Yep. It was a good dinner, right up until then.

For my guesses, I will say
1. You get up at 2 am
2. You don't sleep because every time you start to doze the captain makes an announcement or that dang seat belt sign dings. Kay, however can sleep no matter what, so she did.
3. Customs was no prob
4. Security
5. Ruby is waiting before your luggage makes it in.

Noted.

I hope to actually get an update in this weekend. We have more big news!!!

Oh? Well, I'll keep an eye out for it.
(Now you got me curious!)

I'm not surprised that was your first thought!

This surprises me.

I can't talk about it. Things happened, lives were ruined, witnesses had to be relocated....

I know. One of those witnesses was my friend, man!
I miss him and I'll never see him again.
Sure, he was a jerk.
But he was my jerk.

I don't think I understand that. :confused3 What is this "no" you speak of?

I don't no.

I'm confused, do you love that I wanted to be offended or is that your attempt at offending me?? :rolleyes1

I love that you're confused whether I loved to want to offend you or attempted to offend you

You're so lucky you remembered what they taught you. I would have had a deer in the headlights moment and blanked out completely.

Lucky?
Nah. Just stupid.
It was more like "Oh, yes. They mentioned this might happen.
Huh. Well, I suppose I should do what they told me to do."

Never once thinking about the ground rushing up at me at 32'/second squared.

Yeah, stupid gravity!! I'll show you!!!

Yes! Exactly!
Ain't no stupid Newtonian physics getting the better of me!

I know, it was crazy! How high did you jump from?

I don't remember!
I used to know it.
Definitely below 10,000'.
I think it was under 5,000'... but I'm not positive.
Can you jump from 2,000'? Somehow that sounds right,
but it seems awfully low.

That sounds like mine, there was a cord attached to the plane that pulled the chute for me so I only fell maybe 5 seconds. They say free fall is the best part though.

I've heard that too.
But I was never really interested in it.
It's not a fear... just, not interested.

I like the floating part where you can look around and it's so quiet.

I didn't really notice when it happened but my friend who was with me noticed the difference between our first and second jumps. It did seem much easier to hold on during the first one.

Did you jump from a twin engine airplane?
'Cause I can definitely see that as a factor.
Mine was a single.

I did, I actually watched it recently. It seemed much more impressive to me at the time than it looked on video though. It's still a cool souvenir. Did you get pictures or video?

I got a video.
It's buried somewhere in my house, I presume.

And ya. Not overly impressive.

Awesome! One down three hundred more to go :thumbsup2

Yep! That would take care of page 1!

Of course you do! Every time I make up something totally random you tell me it's actually true!!

:lmao: That's what happens when you've been around as long as I have.

Close enough.

That 9 could accidentally flip over to a 6 though.

I understand. I think I know a guy who can get that for you. I'll see what I can do.

You know a guy?

Wrong gender.

I won't believe that pizza is real until I touch it myself.

You don't just touch it.
You bite into it.

Oh I know, that was a definite fail, but every time I tried to type **** it would get edited.

 Now I'll never know! *** ****** it!!

It's fun, especially since it's such and old reference that nobody gets it anymore.

::yes::

That's exactly the way it is. I tell myself repeatedly before arriving that I'm NOT going to freak out because too many people are there. It never works, melt down imminent.

Awwww.... poor li'l Saturn.
I'll hold your hand and you'll be all right.

That's on my list for next time. I wasn't too excited by the menu I saw though. I think the desserts were the best part. It will be fun to go just for the theming though.

There were a few things on the menu that caught my eye.

I really like hot and sour soup, so I'd have that.
The shrimp appeals to me (see what I did there?)
I'd like to try the Schweitzer Slush
and Bertha's "Banh Bong Lan" Cake with Mango-Lime Sorbet

Just remember, face the castle.

I can see it now...
There I am, looking at all the people in the train station,
wondering what's so great about all the loud noise.

How nice, you remembered I prefer nutella.

I even remembered how you liked it served.

HEADS UP PEOPLE!

Final update coming soon.
If you don't have your guesses in soon, you'll miss the boat.

Are mine in? Sorry, I think I did...? Trying to maximize my short time on here. ;)

Yep! All points tallied and accounted for!

By the way, Hi. I've missed you.

Well, hi there stranger.
I've been over to your PTR several times over the past few days,
but haven't had anything to contribute.

But just did, before I saw this. Ha!

Well, hi there stranger.
I've been over to your PTR several times over the past few days,
but haven't had anything to contribute.

But just did, before I saw this. Ha!

I feel like the Ghost of PTR Past right now. I kinda feel like this upcoming exam contains quite possibly the most any other one has ever covered. Comparably a LOT of good old fashioned memorizing. Which I'm ok at, but Geez, it takes so much TIME!!!

1. What time do we get up?

2:00

2. Do we sleep on the plane?
Me? Kay? Both? Neither?

Neither of you sleep

3. Do we have issues at customs?

Trick question since you had issues going into the US. You're going back to Canada though, you could get in with a library card and season's pass to an amusement park, so no issues.

4. Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?

I have no idea what going through security in Toronto to fly within Canada is like so this is a complete guess... I'll say security takes longer.

5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?

Another trick question, the bags always take longer so it would seem like you wouldn't ask this unless the bags would be there first... except everyone said Ruby and strategically at this point it makes sense to just go along with the crowd because it would be bad to be the only one wrong, so Ruby is there first.

Phew! I hope I passed the final exam!!!

So that's why I kept hearing the rattle of I.V. lines!

And yet you're managing to take a breather today for family time.
Good for you!

HI!
Was hoping you wouldn't update until I could wake up Sunday moning with you.
Read update later in week, just didn't have time to think or quote. Having that stupid alarm clock go off 6 mornings makes for a long week.
So I get going!

We're at the bus stop going somewhere,
See, this was really confusing to me.
Please explain something I don't think I knew. Are there buses that take you from park straight to another park?
Is this a thing few know about or something that happened maybe in the last 10 years? I always thought you'd have to get on a resort bus and switch to a park.
Because I thought you had to go on a bus because AK could only get you there by a bus anyways.

This is the single rider line!
There's no "joining" people
That just ticked me off! What the heck! If he got far up the line, I guess you weren't the only one caught off guard with that.
Stood my ground and didn't get beat up!
Win win!
NICE JOB!! I'm so proud of you. I'd be afraid too, if they stayed behind me the whole time waiting in line with dagger stares in the back. I hope we don't get line cutter when we go too much. Husband would be nice and let them pass & if I did get the nerve, he's be embarrassed by me
Go ahead! Tell me you can't believe it either!
I'll even give you bonus points for it.
Soooo can't believe it. I'm trying to think when I might have had one. We may have shared one at Six Flags. Nothing to really talk about, but I may have a try at Disney's
I have to tell you, seeing your picture. I have to still comment on the common things you share with husband. About the same amount of hair(his is dark blonde), glasses similar, mustache (his is more fu men chu ?sp?) , waers black watch and gold band.
Every once in a while,
a tall man would come and stand in front of us
That would be my 5'3'' problem too
Dad!" Kay suddenly blurts out. "We forgot my paw prints
That made me sad. So would get you one, and postage is my life so it would be no problem. But it sounds like you have offers coming before Oct.!
Well, let see how it goes. I'm saying you wait for ME is a little shorter then last time
1. What time do we get up?
2:15AM
2. Do we sleep on the plane?
Me? Kay? Both? Neither?
Kay does, you don't
3. Do we have issues at customs?
No
4. Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?
Security
5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?
Ruby. See misses you guys!
Coming up!
Leaving home for... home.
Big Bummer:(

HI!
Was hoping you wouldn't update until I could wake up Sunday moning with you.

I think I might wait until Monday,
just to catch any stragglers who check in on their lunch hour.

Read update later in week, just didn't have time to think or quote. Having that stupid alarm clock go off 6 mornings makes for a long week.
So I get going!

I hear you about the alarm clock.
I hate that thing!
If I told you what my work week was like,
you wouldn't believe me.

There was a commercial that used to be on for one of our bigger lotteries.
They had a few that all ended with "What would you do?" (if you won.)

This one had the camera zoomed in on a sleeping woman's face.
The camera starts to pan back out of the room.
As it does it picks up the alarm clock which starts to ring.
It continues to pan out and you see a big hammer on the floor
which the woman picks up and smashes down on the clock,
obliterating it.
And as the camera continues to pan away,
the tag line "What would you do?" appears...
Just as the camera pans out of the room
and you catch a glimpse of her walk-in closet.
Which is filled with hundreds of alarm clocks.

It is relatively new.
I know that there were no direct park to park busses
when we first started taking the kids.
And I only found out about it when I mentioned it
on one of my TRs.
Someone posted "You, know there are direct busses, right?"

So yes. You can take a bus from one park to another now
without having to connect at DTD (or whatever the new acronym is now)
or at a resort.

That just ticked me off! What the heck! If he got far up the line, I guess you weren't the only one caught off guard with that.

They went all the way up the the very front.
I don't think anyone stopped them.
I also don't know if I was the only one who
realized what was going on.

NICE JOB!! I'm so proud of you.

Thanks!

I'd be afraid too, if they stayed behind me the whole time waiting in line with dagger stares in the back. I hope we don't get line cutter when we go too much. Husband would be nice and let them pass & if I did get the nerve, he's be embarrassed by me

I wasn't really afraid, but I didn't want to feel all awkward about it either.
I think Disney security would've broken up anything serious
and with the bag checks, it was pretty unlikely that he'd have a weapon.
Besides, he really didn't look the "type", if there is such a thing.

And if you get cut too often, you might decide to do it anyway.
And you can tell your husband "Suck it up, princess!"

You can say that 'cause you're in Disney, you know.

Soooo can't believe it. I'm trying to think when I might have had one. We may have shared one at Six Flags. Nothing to really talk about, but I may have a try at Disney's

I'm not even sure it even happened anymore!
Good thing I have photographic evidence.

I have to tell you, seeing your picture. I have to still comment on the common things you share with husband. About the same amount of hair(his is dark blonde), glasses similar, mustache (his is more fu men chu ?sp?) , waers black watch and gold band.

So your husband basically looks like this:
Fu-manchu_zpsw90mj0va.gif

Oh, wait. No. Just the 'stache.

Looks like me, huh?
"Dark blonde". Well, my hair is getting more and more "dark blonde" every day.
(I blame living with 3 women.)

But if he looks like me, then he must be an incredibly handsome man.
I fully understand why you married him.

That would be my 5'3'' problem too

Disney should sell step stools.
They'd make a killing.

They'd have a reverse height requirement.
"You must be at most this short to purchase this stool."

That made me sad. So would get you one, and postage is my life so it would be no problem. But it sounds like you have offers coming before Oct.!
Well, let see how it goes.

Thanks! I'll keep you in mind too.
Appreciate the offer.

I'm saying you wait for ME is a little shorter then last time

Kay does, you don't
No
Security
Ruby. See misses you guys!

Noted.

Big Bummer:(

Sorry!

Hey I just wanted to ask. I'm getting old and can't seem to find my post in all the chatter, but I don't remember if I guessed how long you wait for MDE. I don't want to miss out on a point getting opportunity if I can!

You didn't guess, but it's not a points opportunity.
More of a rhetorical question.
A few people did say whether or not they thought
we'd have a longer/shorter wait.
Some even included a time.

But that's part of the overall bus wait time,
so I'm not awarding any bonus points for that.

But you did get all your other guesses in.

You didn't guess, but it's not a points opportunity.

Well if I had I would have said 18 minutes. You see I think about these things good and hard before I finally get around to commenting. Partially because I rarely have time time to sit down and spend proper time on the computer, but also because I want to ponder and consider my options carefully. A lot of good that seems to be doing me.

Insert face palm smiley here.

And there's your problem.
It's a nonsensical contest,
so thinking too hard can actually lower your score.

And you'll see how close you are... I think, tomorrow.

Insert face palm smiley here.

Okay.

If I told you what my work week was like,
you wouldn't believe me.
I would believe you. Remember, I'm reading your TR and gullible to anything you say. You have had us think/believe something happen and then it didn't. Example: Chineese take out
You also seem to be commenting that you are at work a lot lately
So yes. You can take a bus from one park to another now
WOW! Very cool to know. This could really make park days totally different. We always get hopper.
Like I said, I thought you would be going to AK because everything else would have been an easier option then doing all the bus transfers . Obviously!:rolleyes2

dagger stares in the back
pretty unlikely that he'd have a weapon.
Did you really think I meant he'd have a knife? I meant the evil eye stares to your back would BE like daggers
Just the 'stache.
Not quite long and thin! Just full and longer then yours
I fully understand why you married him.
Figure you would. That must mean Ruby is a great woman and the best thing you ever did. You would understand why you guys married US.
I have to say you probably seem to have other things in common with hubby. I was impressed when we started to go out how he would always come open the car door for me etc. His family means the world to him and he is just a gentleman.
Disney should sell step stools.
Good idea. :scratchinMaybe I could bring a small folding one on parade/firework nights:laughing:

30 minutes? No sweat!
Who needs single rider?

We walked in and part way up the first ramp.
We stopped there at the end of the queue.
A few seconds or so later, I glanced behind us
and the line now stretched out past the FP entrance.

More excellent timing by us, if I do say so myself.

Over my years of WDW travel (30 of 'em) I've come to the conclusion that the one thing that most influences your perception of whether a trip was the best or the worst is timing. If your day flows nicely from breakfast to bed time and you're not constantly racing from ride to show to transportation and being late or shut out of the vast majority of things you intended to do, the World is a happy place. The good part is that anyone can achieve good timing. The bad part is you have to work at it. You have to learn how the system works and then use it. Disney pretty much acknowledged this by instituting their ADR system and FP+, and I know that ticked a lot of people off. I was doubtful myself at first and I still don't really like having to decide months in advance where and when I want to eat or ride, but all plans can be changed and it's not that hard to do it. It might sound like I'm advising people to plan every single minute of every single day, but that's definitely not my style. I go to the parks, I pick up a times guide, I study the crowds and keep the wait times app running on my phone, and that's about it. By using the rain to his advantage to get onto both RnRC and ToT, pkondz illustrated my point about timing perfectly.

Oh, was I lecturing? Errrr, sorry. Class dismissed.

Stood my ground and didn't get beat up!
Win win!

Plus, I impressed Kay.
So, win win win!

It's all about being a hero to your kids, isn't it? I don't think there's a good parent alive who wouldn't agree.

"Can I take my shoes off?" Kay asked.
"Sure. We have plenty of time." I said. "Do you want me to rub your feet?"
She nodded. So I did.
We sat there for an hour.
Just relaxing and looking out over the lake
and watching the ferry come and go with its load of passengers.
Happy passengers arriving.
Exhausted passengers departing.

This is one of my favorite ways of enjoying WDW. Find a comfortable place to sit and just take the spectacle in. I usually do it with an adult beverage of some sort, but I'll admit that there have been times I'd have preferred a foot rub to a margarita!

Of course, as we got ready to go, the rain slackened.
And while Kay put her shoes back on, it stopped completely.

Really, the VIP weather package is a must.

And if you can't afford to pay the zillions of dollars that Disney charges for "personal weather enhancement," you can always check the weather app on your phone. I love weather apps. In fact, I've been guilty of checking the app before I look out the window more than once.

But I'll be brutally honest.
Is it as good as a beaver tail?

Nothing is as good as beaver tails. We always got them when they were sold at Epcot. I took one trip with an Actual Canadian and she judged them to be excellent, though she did stick her nose up when DS and I got both chocolate and maple syrup on ours. Delicious!

Every once in a while,
a tall man would come and stand in front of us.
We'd move a bit... okay we can see.
He'd move.
We'd move some more.
He'd move again.

Don't you hate that??? When I pick a spot I stay in it. I can't decide is whether people no longer know how to just stand still, or if the pursuit of the elusive Perfect View is actually more important than accepting the Pretty Decent View. :confused3

"Dad!" Kay suddenly blurts out. "We forgot my paw prints!"

Oh... shoot!

I haven't read too far ahead but I'm sure someone is going to fix this for Kay. If it doesn't happen before the end of April, though, I'll be happy to do it. I'm pretty sure that the first thing I'm going to want to do after moving to Clearwater is pay a visit to WDW to get my very own Florida resident annual pass. (It's definitely the first thing DS did!)

1. What time do we get up?

1:45.

2. Do we sleep on the plane?
Me? Kay? Both? Neither?

Kay, yes. You, no.

3. Do we have issues at customs?

Oh, dear, I hope not. No.

4. Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?

Security.

5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?

Ruby!

:wave:HI me again.
After commenting on the mind blowing information you provided about the park2park buses, I told my husband the news.
Of course he asks..so where are they? We only had resort bus stop to go to.
:worship:All knowing,Great Pkondz, please explain.

:thanks:
