Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

You know those info boards that tell you what bay the bus to your resort will come to? Well, there will also be info for the buses to the other parks. We have been using these buses for many, many years. They do exist!

:wave:HI me again.
After commenting on the mind blowing information you provided about the park2park buses, I told my husband the news.
Of course he asks..so where are they? We only had resort bus stop to go to.
:worship:All knowing,Great Pkondz, please explain.

:thanks:

I am not the All knowing, Great Pkondz, but I think I know where your confusion lies. You cannot take a resort to resort bus. And I know sometimes we want to. But you can take a Park to Park bus. They just pull up to the front to let off passengers, and the sign changes to which park they are off to next. You don't go out to the bays for those.

I would believe you. Remember, I'm reading your TR and gullible to anything you say.

:rolleyes1

You have had us think/believe something happen and then it didn't. Example: Chineese take out

You should've been around for my first TR.
I had a whole section how I ran down
and got into a fight with a purse snatcher.

You also seem to be commenting that you are at work a lot lately

It may be because I am at work a lot lately.
We're short staffed right now so there's holes in the schedule
whenever someone takes leave or is on a course.

This is what January looked/looks like
Jan 1 6:45am - 2:45pm and 10:45am - 6:45am on Jan 2
Jan 2 see above.
Jan 3, 4, 5 I had my normal days off... but then...

Jan 9 6:45am - 2:45pm and 10:45am - 6:45am on Jan 10

Jan 24 6:45am - 2:45pm
Jan 25 I'm supposed to be at work, but I took the day off for a family matter
Jan 26 10:45pm on the 25th - 6:45am
Jan 27 A day off!!!! If it happens... I won't know for sure until that day.
Jan 28 6:45am - 2:45pm
Jan 29 OMG another day off!!!! Hopefully
Jan 30 2:45pm - 10:45pm
Jan 31 2:45pm - 10:45pm

There was a stretch where I worked 15 days in a row with 17 shifts.

So... Yeah. I may have mentioned that I'm at work a bit.

WOW! Very cool to know. This could really make park days totally different. We always get hopper.
Like I said, I thought you would be going to AK because everything else would have been an easier option then doing all the bus transfers . Obviously!:rolleyes2

See? Obvious!

Did you really think I meant he'd have a knife?

Oh, no.
I just meant that it's pretty safe to stand up to someone in Disney.
The worst that is likely to happen is a verbal sparring match
or some shoving.

I meant the evil eye stares to your back would BE like daggers

That's why I was relieved that he left.
Who wants someone glaring at you for 10-20 minutes?

Then again, that's probably why he turned around.
Felt sheepish and didn't want me glaring at him.

Not quite long and thin! Just full and longer then yours

So to go on a date with Shelley, I have to grow it out more.

Check.

Figure you would. That must mean Ruby is a great woman and the best thing you ever did.

::yes::

You would understand why you guys married US.

Now why we stay married is a whole other question.

Ow! Ruby! Stop hitting me!
I was kidding! Kidding!!!!!

I have to say you probably seem to have other things in common with hubby. I was impressed when we started to go out how he would always come open the car door for me etc.

Who doesn't do that??? :confused3

His family means the world to him and he is just a gentleman.

Sounds like a keeper.
Ruby keeps me around out of pity.

Good idea. :scratchinMaybe I could bring a small folding one on parade/firework nights:laughing:

Set it up in front of that tall dude with the kid on his shoulders.
He won't mind.

Over my years of WDW travel (30 of 'em) I've come to the conclusion that the one thing that most influences your perception of whether a trip was the best or the worst is timing.

Well, you've certainly had for more trips than I have,
so you'd be more of an authority than I.

However.

I believe attitude and state of mind play an equally important role.

Who is having a better day in the following scenario?

Person A: "What is wrong with Disney?
We had to wait 20 minutes to get on that ride!
I'm never coming here again! That's for sure!"

Person B: "That was awesome!
We only waited 30 minutes and had a blast!"

Settle down. Relax. Go with the flow.

If your day flows nicely from breakfast to bed time and you're not constantly racing from ride to show to transportation and being late or shut out of the vast majority of things you intended to do, the World is a happy place. The good part is that anyone can achieve good timing. The bad part is you have to work at it. You have to learn how the system works and then use it. Disney pretty much acknowledged this by instituting their ADR system and FP+, and I know that ticked a lot of people off. I was doubtful myself at first and I still don't really like having to decide months in advance where and when I want to eat or ride, but all plans can be changed and it's not that hard to do it. It might sound like I'm advising people to plan every single minute of every single day, but that's definitely not my style. I go to the parks, I pick up a times guide, I study the crowds and keep the wait times app running on my phone, and that's about it. By using the rain to his advantage to get onto both RnRC and ToT, pkondz illustrated my point about timing perfectly.

Oh, was I lecturing? Errrr, sorry. Class dismissed.

Oh, I agree!
If you're complaining that you waited an hour and a half to ride 7DMT,
then you probably didn't do your homework.
"I stood in line for an hour and a half for a one minute ride!"

"Oh? I rode that too. Plus BTMRR, Splash and Peter Pan.
While you were in line for it."

FP, rope drop, touring plans, crowd estimates, EMH...
Use 'em to your advantage.

It's all about being a hero to your kids, isn't it? I don't think there's a good parent alive who wouldn't agree.

::yes:: Amazing how your life and perceptions change
when you've got suddenly got a rug rat.

This is one of my favorite ways of enjoying WDW. Find a comfortable place to sit and just take the spectacle in. I usually do it with an adult beverage of some sort,

And I've never done that.
But maybe now that I've satiated the Disney bug a bit,
the next time I go, I can relax a bit more.
(With that adult bevvie.)

but I'll admit that there have been times I'd have preferred a foot rub to a margarita!

Uh, oh.
I can see it now.

pkondz wants to go ride some rides, see some sights...
But he can't.

There's a line up of his harem,
all demanding foot rubs!

And if you can't afford to pay the zillions of dollars that Disney charges for "personal weather enhancement," you can always check the weather app on your phone. I love weather apps. In fact, I've been guilty of checking the app before I look out the window more than once.

I don't know why, but I never use them.
Guess I'm just used to looking up and judging the weather.

I had to do that as part of my job for about 10 years,
so it's pretty much a reflex now.

Nothing is as good as beaver tails. We always got them when they were sold at Epcot. I took one trip with an Actual Canadian and she judged them to be excellent, though she did stick her nose up when DS and I got both chocolate and maple syrup on ours. Delicious!

I agree... with sticking my nose up at adding chocolate
or maple syrup to a perfectly good beaver tail!

Don't you hate that??? When I pick a spot I stay in it. I can't decide is whether people no longer know how to just stand still, or if the pursuit of the elusive Perfect View is actually more important than accepting the Pretty Decent View. :confused3

YES!! :headache:

You've found a spot... stay there!

(Although I really did enjoy when those people
were pushing me back on my solo trip.)

I haven't read too far ahead but I'm sure someone is going to fix this for Kay. If it doesn't happen before the end of April, though, I'll be happy to do it. I'm pretty sure that the first thing I'm going to want to do after moving to Clearwater is pay a visit to WDW to get my very own Florida resident annual pass. (It's definitely the first thing DS did!)

::yes:: A few people have offered and I've got one lined up
and another on standby.
But thanks!

1:45.

Kay, yes. You, no.

Oh, dear, I hope not. No.

Security.

Ruby!

Noted.

:wave:HI me again.
After commenting on the mind blowing information you provided about the park2park buses, I told my husband the news.
Of course he asks..so where are they? We only had resort bus stop to go to.
:worship:All knowing,Great Pkondz, please explain.

:thanks:

I see that @MHSweb79 and @MAGICFOR2 have already answered.
(Thanks, guys! :goodvibes)
But in case you missed it:
When you leave a park, you always look at the board
to see where your resort bus is going to be, right?
On that same board, they list where the busses for the parks are too.
So you pick them up from the same (general) area
that you'd catch any bus.

If you find yourself in the parking lot surrounded by cars,
you've gone too far.

If you find yourself in Orlando, you've really gone too far.

Well, there will also be info for the buses to the other parks

You cannot take a resort to resort bus. And I know sometimes we want to. But you can take a Park to Park bus.
Thanks!
I knew you couldn't go resort to resort but have never been on a park to park bus.
Please remember that I haven't been to Disney in 10 years. Last time was Nov 2006!
Again thanks for info, I will be looking for these now : )

It may be because I am at work a lot lately.
We're short staffed right now so there's holes in the schedule
You sure are! I would think the worst is when you have to turn around and go right back.
I remember back in my early years before being officially full time, they could make you work anything. And only had to give you 8 hours in between.
In the winter it would be dark out, leave at 6pm and back at 2am. The sun never rose!
We have a little of short staffing going on too. Two people out for surgery and one took a job that takes her out of the office
I will be working my third 6 day week in a row and probably a few more ahead
There was a stretch where I worked 15 days in a row with 17 shifts
That's a lot especially with those double shifts. My longest stretch back in the early days again was 21, they needed people on Sunday.
Now why we stay married is a whole other question.

Ow! Ruby! Stop hitting me!
I was kidding! Kidding!!!!!
Hey!!
Remember, marrying us was the BEST thing
Go ahead Ruby - whack him again for me
Sounds like a keeper.
Ruby keeps me around out of pity.
See that's why you're still married
On that same board, they list where the busses for the parks are too
Thanks again. I can't believe that I never heard/realized this before. Earth shattering! You just rocked my world!
If you find yourself in the parking lot surrounded by cars,
you've gone too far.
Good advice. Maybe I should bring a GPS to be safe

... that one's my fave.

But they're all awesome.
Who would've thought someone'd come up with that!?!?
Yep that is the best one.
There’s pretty much a star Wars mashup for just about anything imaginable.
I believe it’s become a moral imperative.

Oh and while I was looking for something to inflict on Mark’s TR…
I ran across another one that would be at home on this one.
(not even lookin' for points here… just enjoy)

calvin-and-ren.0.0.jpg

All right.
I'll give you 0.72 of a point.
But I’ll gladly take that 18% of four points.
It could make all the difference between finishing in seventeenth or eighteenth.

Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor,
heady, but with just a touch of mellow smoothness.
Lifebuoy, on the other hand...

.

You sure are! I would think the worst is when you have to turn around and go right back.
I remember back in my early years before being officially full time, they could make you work anything. And only had to give you 8 hours in between.

We have to have 8 hours too. But our schedule is self imposed.
There are three shifts to cover, day, evening and night.
We work (theoretically) 5 on 3 off.
We could do night, day, day, eve, eve.
That way you would have 24 hours off between night/day and day/eve.
But the downside is that your days off are shorter.
You would get off work at 11pm on your last day of work,
then go back to work at 11pm on your last day off.
Doing it with short changes means you get off work at 7am,
have the rest of that day, then three days off,
then don't go in until 3pm of your first day back.

Pros and cons to both arguments, of course.

In the winter it would be dark out, leave at 6pm and back at 2am. The sun never rose!

::yes::
Had many a day without seeing any sunlight at all.

We have a little of short staffing going on too. Two people out for surgery and one took a job that takes her out of the office
I will be working my third 6 day week in a row and probably a few more ahead

It burns you out after a while, doesn't it.

That's a lot especially with those double shifts. My longest stretch back in the early days again was 21, they needed people on Sunday.

My longest stretch was when Elle was born.
I had most of April off for the birth, which was nice.
Then I worked from May 1 to... October. Zero days off.
About 180+ days in a row.

Life in the North.

Hey!!
Remember, marrying us was the BEST thing
Go ahead Ruby - whack him again for me

Ow!!! Stop it! I'm sorry!

(That's one thing I'm sure your DH & I have in common too.
We probably both excel at saying "Sorry.")

See that's why you're still married

Because she hits me?

Could be.

Thanks again. I can't believe that I never heard/realized this before. Earth shattering! You just rocked my world!

I didn't know about it either.
But that's what the DIS is for.

Good advice. Maybe I should bring a GPS to be safe

Yep that is the best one.
There’s pretty much a star Wars mashup for just about anything imaginable.
I believe it’s become a moral imperative.

A moral imperative? We should form a rebellion!

Oh and while I was looking for something to inflict on Mark’s TR…
I ran across another one that would be at home on this one.
(not even lookin' for points here… just enjoy)

calvin-and-ren.0.0.jpg

::yes:: Saw that one after you posted the previous ones.
I went looking.

Clever, though!

But I’ll gladly take that 18% of four points.
It could make all the difference between finishing in seventeenth or eighteenth.

I told you already. I gave you the .72 points.
And, barring unforeseen circumstances in the next few hours...
it does make a difference.

Lifebuoy, on the other hand...

blech!

I know. One of those witnesses was my friend, man!
I miss him and I'll never see him again.
Sure, he was a jerk.
But he was my jerk.

You're better off without him, I did you a favor.

I love that you're confused whether I loved to want to offend you or attempted to offend you

You obviously love trying to offend me because that didn't offend me.

I don't remember!
I used to know it.
Definitely below 10,000'.
I think it was under 5,000'... but I'm not positive.
Can you jump from 2,000'? Somehow that sounds right,
but it seems awfully low.

I had the choice of 3000 or 4000 so 2000 might be possible.

Did you jump from a twin engine airplane?
'Cause I can definitely see that as a factor.
Mine was a single.

I have absolutely no idea. I just got into the plane when they told me to. I was a little nervous!

That 9 could accidentally flip over to a 6 though.

Right, then they could have strangers show up at their house looking for 6...

You know a guy?

Wrong gender.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood what you wanted. When you said you would get banned if you wrote what you wanted, I automatically assumed "poison to eliminate enemies". I see now that's not what you had in mind... :rolleyes1

 Now I'll never know! *** ****** it!!

:rotfl:I think you have an extra "it" or two extra **

Awwww.... poor li'l Saturn.
I'll hold your hand and you'll be all right.

Well since there are SO many people here, do you think we could cut in line????? :duck:

The shrimp appeals to me (see what I did there?)

 But they leave the heads on.... I never really want to see faces on my plate...

and Bertha's "Banh Bong Lan" Cake with Mango-Lime Sorbet

You just want that because of the name.

I even remembered how you liked it served.

I've never actually had it served that way, but I see how that could be a hard thing to forget.

Pondzi pondzi bo-bonzi !
banana-fana fo fondzi !
...
Wait, I'm sure I've already sung this to you before.

Heeeeeeeeyyyy

I have never heard anyone use za as an abbreviation for pizza but I like it and I shall be using it.

(And no. It's not for the meek. Or if you have a heart condition.)

vern-s-pizza_zpstinkhe34.jpg

Oh boy!!! I'm getting chest pains just looking at it

You all misunderstood what the obvious part was.
Here's the question from the last chapter:
The question was obvious... not the answer!
We're at the bus stop going somewhere,
so the obvious question to ask is "Where are we going?"

THIS IS CRUEL CRUEL TRICKERY. I DEMAND COMPENSATION POINTS. (Please :cutie: )

And some of you further concluded that if we were going to DHS
we would've taken the boat

That was my logic.

Surely (Don't call me Shirley) you've deduced the answer?

You just quoted Airplane!!! I love you even more!!!

My favourite is "that, as much as anything else, led to my drinking problem."

69486.gif

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: best film ever!

"Excuse me."

My natural reaction... heck, my instincts took over
and without even looking, I immediately stepped to the side.

Well you ARE Canadian.. Aren't you guys known for your politeness?!

Not one, not two, but three young teens zipped by us.

UGH. We were bugged by the amount of families we saw with small children in the single rider lines... You can just picture them getting to the front and demanding to be seated together :sad2:

"Excuse me." He said. "My family is waiting for me up ahead."

"Don't worry. They'll wait for you."

Ohhhhh! I'm surprised you haven't been kicked out of Canada!!

I whipped out my... settle down ladies.
Sheesh.

I whipped out my VIP bus package contract

disappointed.gif

"Can I take my shoes off?" Kay asked.
"Sure. We have plenty of time." I said. "Do you want me to rub your feet?"
She nodded. So I did.
We sat there for an hour.
Just relaxing and looking out over the lake

YOU GUYS.

Kristen-Bell-Happy-Tears.gif

So you get points if you said we were lucky,
but none if you just said it rained.
Judge's decisions are final.

tumblr_ndm99ew37w1u06e3ko1_400.gif

"Okay, how about Splash?"
Nope.

HOW DARE YOU.

(Actually, HM really was her first choice for a ride.)

Oh ok. You're excused. :thumbsup2

But first...
There was one treat that I'd never tried.
And whenever I mentioned that,
people were usually shocked.

I had never had a...

Churro.

I haven't either!!! Well, I had some in France (not Disneyland) when I was like 12, and I vommed them back up (nice image for you) so I've never been into that sort of thing again... But I've recently started to enjoy donuts again (which I also couldn't eat after this incident) so maybe I'll try a churro.

And if I get sick again, the blame is ENTIRELY on you my friend. :thumbsup2

Go ahead! Tell me you can't believe it either!
I'll even give you bonus points for it.

I DON'T BELIEEEEEVE IT!!!!!!!

Your face is a rare sighting so it always pleases me to see you, even when you pull a face like this

What's not to like? Sugar! Hello!

This sounds as though you're about to list everything that makes up a churro, but then you realise, sugar is probably the only ingredient

Oooh! Never been here!

This looks like a very pleasant view! Shame people stood up and got in your way.

Every once in a while,
a tall man would come and stand in front of us.
We'd move a bit... okay we can see.
He'd move.
We'd move some more.
He'd move again.
"Dad. We had a great spot, now I can't even see most of the castle."

She was right. We moved back to our starting spot.
He moved.

Omg, tell Kay, this is the story of my LIFE! Well, my Disney life. I feel your pain sister.

I'd had enough.
I tapped him on the shoulder.
When he turned I gestured towards Kay.
He looked a little nonplussed, but moved aside.

She enjoyed the rest of the show undisturbed.

You are a great father!! (Some might call this flattery and deem it worthy of points.. :confused3)
Haha, but seriously, you are.
Can you come to Disney with me?!?!?!

We'd watch and... a Dad would grab his kid
and hoist him or her on his shoulders.

Right in front of us.

Like, WHY? Hold your child on your hip???????????

Ah, to be that clueless.
It must be very restful, not having to think of others.

::yes::

Do this.
Scroll back up to the picture of the table at Tony's with the desserts.
Do you see the envelope with the birthday card?
Give up?
You can just see a bit of it in the top left corner of the picture.
Notice how it blends right into the tablecloth?
Yeah.

I did it! (Bonus points?!)

If anyone's going to the World in the next little bit,
would it be too much to ask one of you to pick
up a napkin from Tony's with Lady & The Tramp's
paw prints on it?
I'd be more than happy to pay for the postage.

If you don't have them by September, or haven't been back by then, let me know, I'll get them to you :goodvibes

I'd rather stay up a few minutes and pack
and sleep a little later in the morning.
Kay would rather leave it, sleep in,
and ask me in the morning to pack for her.

:rotfl: this is what dads are for!!!

Bonus questions, round 11!
(Final round! Make 'em count!)

1. What time do we get up?

Me? Kay? Both? Neither?

3. Do we have issues at customs?

4. Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?

5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?

1. Is it something ridiculous like 2am?!

2. Both!

3. Yes!

4. Security!

5. Ruby!

Great update!

I know I promised an update tonight.... and I will.
But several things need to happen first.

1. I need to stop peeing myself laughing at @TheLittleKatie 's last post.
2. I need to leave... eep! Right NOW for work.
3. I need to add her points into the update.
4. THEN I'll post it.

ps. I accidentally made a typo and wrote upadate.
You know... I kinda like that.

Oops! Gotta run! Back in about 45 mins.
