Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

:wave2:Hello Darling! So glad to read an update. I read it when you posted it, but haven't had a chance to give you 100% until now. So I'm here for you.

I started reading his TRs and we became friends.
And it's because of his TRs and his encouragement
that I write mine.
Aw! How wonderful that you found a DIS friend. I'm so glad he was able to encourage you to write and entertain us all. We are so lucky to have you.:grouphug:

he decided to "test" the hot plate.
 Because there's no way a hot plate is hot!!!

And that surprised me.
I guess I was under the mistaken belief
that most of you had followed me from there.
I'm a little shocked... and humbled too,
that so many of you have joined me in
this little adventure.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I binge read your last trip report and followed you over from there. I have actually been a member for years, but never found trip reports until recently. I have learned more through reading the trip reports than I ever would have otherwise. It has been amazing how much Disney knowledge I now have compared to what I thought I knew.

The things I do for you, dear reader.
Why thank you sir! You are too kind!

*Disney's Un-magical Depress
(Full disclosure: Magical Depress is a Nebo invention.)
I love that you include his phrases, but NOOOOOO! It can't be over yet!

Pretend it's not real.
Perfect! I like your style!:thumbsup2

"You have to go home, now."
I can't hear you!!! La-la-la!!
What, what was that?:listen:

:scared:Yikes! REALLY!!!!?

Sleep is overrated anyway.
I don't know if you asked my poor DH he'd say it's not. We haven't slept soundly in over 10 years.

Then again, it may be because I screamed
"WAKE UP!!!!!" at her.
Nice! Better than a bucket of cold water.:cold:

We set out and got to the bus stop at 10:40am
The bus arrived at 10:41am.
One minute.
It was longer than we were used to.
But I am nothing if not understanding.
I let it slide and chose not to berate the driver
for his tardiness.
You are so kind my dear.

Am I not gracious?
You are the most gracious of graciousness I have ever seen!:love2:

You can try one if you like.
But I guarantee we already said it.
My DD pink tutu is the Sum of all Frills.

it's a motion simulator ride on steroids.
Nice analogy. I now know exactly what it's like. No sarcasm.:flower1:

Hoooooey! That sucker is fun!
Might just be one of the best rides in Epcot.
Wow! I need to try it!

You know it's a good ride when you excitedly talk about it afterward.
Which we did.
That's great. I remember doing that after riding TSMM for the first time.

And yet.
Maybe it's because I've driven more than twice as fast
in Germany on the Autobahn.
Do tell. I am so curious!!!

And afterwards, this happened...

DSC09740_zpso8kwg1by.jpg

Hmmm... Maybe she's trying to tell me something.
Sheesh. Some things never change...

DSC09740b_zpsm2mqf8ci.jpg
I love that you did this. She is adorable.

And boy! Did she serve us our water!
Any time a glass was She had to keep you hydrated, since it was so hot.

Was it amazing? No.
Bummer.

I tipped well and hoped Gabriella would get a cut.
You're so generous. I should expect no less.

But she was happy, so I was happy.
Obviously.
Because when she's not happy, oh boy.
You'll definitely not be happy.
I actually have a shirt for a baby that says, "If I ain't happy, ain't nobody happy". Isn't that the truth?

There I bought a shirt for my Dad,
which he just got the other day, for Christmas.
Wow! Did Disney drop it off for him at Epcot?:hyper:

And they're all from "A small town in Jersey, just outside Philadelphia"???
Wow. What's the chance of that? It's a small world after all. :stir: Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Please forgive me.:worship:

Moments later, we disembarked and headed off to the bus stop,
passing New Jerseyites and New Jerseyans left and right.

Looking back, it's inexcusable.
Four minutes!
Completely. Thank you so much for allowing us to change guesses again.

jandlinz - 34 (-15 pts)
Ok. Let's go with 42. Is it taken yet or does that not matter?

Points standings:

Saturn23 – 160 points
jandlinz – 159 points
Whoo Hoo! :cheer2: Pressures on! I'm a little bummin' though that I didn't get any birthday points.:sad1: I'll just be thankful for what I have been given.

Bonus questions, round 10!

1. Obvious one. Which park are we heading out to next?

2. Remember we have to be at the lobby for check out at 2:45am.
So... Is the next park our last of the day? Or not?
Number of parks done this last day, 2, 3 or 4?

3. I experience yet another first time snack.
And it's another fairly common one.
(I had to. I promised I would.) What is it?

4. Oh, take a wild guess on what time we leave the parks for the night.
And just to make things extra easy for you...
(in order of lateness open)
MK open til 11, DHS open til 9:30, Epcot open til 9, AK open til 5

5. We've been lucky with the weather... so far.
So, do you feel we stay lucky?

6. What do you think? We've done one ADR today already.
Do we have a dinner ADR?

1. Hmmm... A bus huh? AK.
2. 3 You head to MK for fireworks.
3. Tricky, tricky. I want to say a churro or pretzel. Seeing as you told someone you would try it I'm going to say churro.
4. 10:30 After fireworks.
5. Yes. :tinker:
6. Yes. Go out with a bang right.? Oh my, could it be a dessert party? Oh, I hope so. How cool would that be?

Good luck!
Thank you dear! I need it. I'm so close. Let's hope I don't blow it.

Coming up!
Last half of the last day.
Plus...
In the eyes of my child... I'm the MAN!
Aw! You ARE the man!:teeth:

I just noticed, I quoted wrong toward the end of my post. Let me know if you can read my responses. If not I can redo them.

10 minutes!!!! :faint:
I've been going to the wrong Disney!

Glad to hear your weather's been nice! :)

You definitely need to go - I mean it's not that much further to keep flying on from Hawaii to Asia is it? ;)

And the weather had been awful but apparently I was due a little pixie dust and it ended up being perfect park touring weather :tink:

:wave2:Hello Darling! So glad to read an update.

Well hi there!
And I'm glad that you're glad!
Are you glad that I'm glad that you're glad?
I'd be glad if you were glad that I was glad that you're glad... uh... I think.

I read it when you posted it, but haven't had a chance to give you 100% until now. So I'm here for you.

And you know me.
I demand my readers' full and complete attention!
No watching TV while responding!

This isn't going to go over well, is it?

Aw! How wonderful that you found a DIS friend. I'm so glad he was able to encourage you to write and entertain us all. We are so lucky to have you.:grouphug:

Without him, I'm not here.

 Because there's no way a hot plate is hot!!!

 You'd have to know Nebo.
It made perfectly insane sense!

I binge read your last trip report and followed you over from there.

Ah yes. So you did!

I have actually been a member for years

If I had to go out on a limb...
I'd say since about the end of November, 2010.

But that's just a blind guess.

but never found trip reports until recently.

It took me a while to find them too.
I used to hang out only on the Attractions and Strategies forum.

I have learned more through reading the trip reports than I ever would have otherwise.

Especially when you know something...
and then someone posts about it and it's completely different.
Like, say... oh I don't know. That they moved Aloha Isle.

It has been amazing how much Disney knowledge I now have compared to what I thought I knew.

I feel the same way.
I keep finding myself going "What? When did that happen?"

Why thank you sir! You are too kind!

You're welcome! :)

I love that you include his phrases, but NOOOOOO! It can't be over yet!

Yep.... Darkness descends...

Perfect! I like your style!:thumbsup2

I am nothing if not stylish.
Well, in my mind anyway.

What, what was that?:listen:

I don't know! I can't hear you!

:scared:Yikes! REALLY!!!!?

Unfortunately.... yes.

I don't know if you asked my poor DH he'd say it's not. We haven't slept soundly in over 10 years.

Sleep? Generally a wonderful thing when you can get it.
At Disney?

Who needs it????

Nice! Better than a bucket of cold water.:cold:

But not as effective.
Less clean up, though.

You are so kind my dear.

Killing you with kindness.
That's me.

You are the most gracious of graciousness I have ever seen!:love2:

Goodness gracious!

My DD pink tutu is the Sum of all Frills.

Yep. Used that one too.

Nice analogy. I now know exactly what it's like. No sarcasm.:flower1:

Glad I could straighten that out for ya.

Wow! I need to try it!

If you like coasters, I think you'd like this.

That's great. I remember doing that after riding TSMM for the first time.

That's right! I remember doing the same thing the first time we rode TSMM.

Do tell. I am so curious!!!

I wrote about it in my Euro TR,
but I just told the story to Katie so I'll just tell you what I told her.

In a nutshell, I rented a car while in Bavaria.
I wanted a convertible to see the mountains.
The rental guy convinced me that with four large suitcases
that wouldn't be a good idea.
I knew that, but figured it would only be for the drive to/from the hotel.
But then... 1-2 hours with suitcases in your lap?
So I got a realllll nice BMW (M5).
That car's a dream to drive.
So going 230kmh felt like driving 50kmh.
Except things seemed to go by a little faster.

I love that you did this. She is adorable.

I think that one's my fave of those.

She had to keep you hydrated, since it was so hot.

Ah! So she was looking out for me.
And here I thought she was just being overzealous.

You're so generous. I should expect no less.

I am, am I not? Generous to a fault.
And considering my many, many faults...
I must be SUPER generous!

I actually have a shirt for a baby that says, "If I ain't happy, ain't nobody happy". Isn't that the truth?

 It sure is!

Wow! Did Disney drop it off for him at Epcot?:hyper:

 You're the second person to mention something like that.
No.

I snuck down for a quick trip and didn't tell anyone.

Wow. What's the chance of that? It's a small world after all. :stir: Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Please forgive me.:worship:

No!!!!!!! Don't speak the phrase-that-shall-not-be-spoken!!!!

Completely. Thank you so much for allowing us to change guesses again.

Ok. Let's go with 42. Is it taken yet or does that not matter?

42's been picked, but I'll allow it.
Or you could pick 41 or 45.
No one's picked those yet.

Whoo Hoo! :cheer2: Pressures on! I'm a little bummin' though that I didn't get any birthday points.:sad1: I'll just be thankful for what I have been given.

Oh, really?

Chapter 6.
Do Fish Drink?
pkondz said:
jandlinz - 2 birthday points.

Should I deduct those two points?

1. Hmmm... A bus huh? AK.
2. 3 You head to MK for fireworks.

Noted.

And I don't normally comment on guesses so not to give any hints,
but I will say that we definitely did not do the dessert party.
But it wasn't for a lack of trying!
Every day for weeks I tried to get in.
Even while we were there, I was checking.

Nope. Sold out the whole time.
Well, actually not quite.
It suddenly opened up one day.
I quickly checked to make sure it didn't conflict with
the almost-equally hard to get Beaches and Cream ADR.
It didn't, but by then it was already gone!

Thank you dear! I need it. I'm so close. Let's hope I don't blow it.

Well, here's extra luck for you then... pixiedust:

Aw! You ARE the man!:teeth:

Yes. Yes I am. Oh, yeah baby.

Hey! Where'd everybody go???

And thanks so much for posting those!
How'd you come across them?
I knew that this was one thread where they’d most certainly be appreciated.

One of them showed up on an FB post and caught my fancy.
A little bit of digging around out on the inter-webs turned up a series by the same artist…
Jackpot!

RIP!
I think I ran that for... 3 years or so?
And we thank you for that.
I miss it, but there really wasn’t enough traffic to make it worthwhile.

Thanks. I was losing sleep over that one.
You know. Since I don't have any method of finding out when that time is.
Your own fault…
You left a blatant opening for someone to be a smarta$$; how could I resist.

Oh, dear Lord... Here it comes...
You expected different?
From you readers?

Yeah. That's it.
It's a code.
It's not just BS.
BS? Oh no, nooooo…
Never have I encountered even the slightest whiff of BS floating around the TRs on this board.
Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see.

:lmao: Those were all spot on.
Glad to be of service.

That one didn't work, though.
Too bad… It was an excellent GIF of Sully fainting.
Odd but I can see that one at work (where it’s hard to see most images), but not at home, which is likely why you can’t see it either. Now the actual why for that circumstance eludes me, but it is a curiosity.

This is true. She should be thanking me.
Dang right…
Generally speaking, choosing between spending lavishly on our kids vs randomly assaulting them with foam and feather stuffed bludgeons should be a no brainer.

And yet, as parents, we seem to continually chose the less logical of the two options time and again.
Go figure.

This is bogus! I rode a school bus every day from Gr 4 - 9.
I never got to use a slide!
I know, right?
I think all forms of mass transportation should have such rapid egress facilitators installed.
If you have to be disgorged into a parking lot...
it should at least be a fun experience.

I threw that "guarantee" out there
to see if anyone could come up with something new.
Since it was a loooong line, I figured it was going to have to be obscure to make the cut.
I’m usually pretty good at being obscure.

And..... loving it.
That’s the second fastest faux head-on collision simulator that I’ve ever been on.

Believe me.... I noticed.

Frightening, isn't it?
Terrifying….
Looks of that caliber are not surmountable by any means known to dad-dom.
Best let Ruby handle that one.

But I had Italian sausage! Not chicken!
I’ve been led to believe that’s a fairly common phrase over there meaning “I know what I’m talking about”. Now the Sicilian who told me that may well have been tugging on my lariat, but it’s generally not in ones best interest to be arguing with Sicilians.

Um... I'll postpone that until the next udate, okay?
Fair enough…
But I may be forced to hold you to that.

Still. You don't forget where you came from!
Well you do once you start topping your pizza with things like Brussels sprouts and tofu…
but I certainly won’t be ordering such atrocities.

But if someone says "What's Winnipeg close to?"
The correct answer is.... "Nothing."
You make a good point.
Y’all are right in the middle of one “great big empty”, aren’t ya’?

Now I knew where Winnipeg was beforehand, but most folk don’t spend a lot of free time honing their geography and cartography skills.

Aha! Another one dares to take on the entire State!
(Might want to not go to WDW during Jersey week.)
Well, if your TR is a valid guide, apparently there’s no one’s left up there to have to worry about.

You definitely need to go - I mean it's not that much further to keep flying on from Hawaii to Asia is it? ;)

That's funny. I was thinking the exact same thing for you.
"You know. Hawaii isn't that far from Asia. Come on over!"

And the weather had been awful but apparently I was due a little pixie dust and it ended up being perfect park touring weather :tink:

I didn't know the weather was supposed to be bad.
Glad to hear it was otherwise.

I knew that this was one thread where they’d most certainly be appreciated.

::yes:: Ya got that right!

One of them showed up on an FB post and caught my fancy.
A little bit of digging around out on the inter-webs turned up a series by the same artist…
Jackpot!

Ah. Well that explains it.
And thanks again for digging and posting here!

And we thank you for that.
I miss it, but there really wasn’t enough traffic to make it worthwhile.

Yeah. It was getting a little stale and ghost-town-like.

Your own fault…
You left a blatant opening for someone to be a smarta$$; how could I resist.

And if anyone's going to be a smart... uh, smart alec, it's going to be you.

You expected different?
From you readers?

<sigh> No.

BS? Oh no, nooooo…
Never have I encountered even the slightest whiff of BS floating around the TRs on this board.
Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see.

I think you can apply that to the whole internet!
If you see it on there, it must be true!

Too bad… It was an excellent GIF of Sully fainting.
Odd but I can see that one at work (where it’s hard to see most images), but not at home, which is likely why you can’t see it either. Now the actual why for that circumstance eludes me, but it is a curiosity.

Huh. I took a look and it was done right, just wouldn't work.

Dang right…
Generally speaking, choosing between spending lavishly on our kids vs randomly assaulting them with foam and feather stuffed bludgeons should be a no brainer.

Bludgeons for everyone!!!

And yet, as parents, we seem to continually chose the less logical of the two options time and again.
Go figure.

I know. Kids make your brain shrink, you know.

I know, right?
I think all forms of mass transportation should have such rapid egress facilitators installed.
If you have to be disgorged into a parking lot...
it should at least be a fun experience.

But noooooo.
"Someone will get hurt."
Oh, brother. Take the fun out of everything.

Probably the same people who won't let auto companies
put ejector seats in.

Since it was a loooong line, I figured it was going to have to be obscure to make the cut.
I’m usually pretty good at being obscure.

That's what I thought.
But I looked for a reference and couldn't find one.

That’s the second fastest faux head-on collision simulator that I’ve ever been on.

And the fastest would be?

(Man I'd make a great straight man!)

Terrifying….
Looks of that caliber are not surmountable by any means known to dad-dom.
Best let Ruby handle that one.

I do.

I’ve been led to believe that’s a fairly common phrase over there meaning “I know what I’m talking about”. Now the Sicilian who told me that may well have been tugging on my lariat, but it’s generally not in ones best interest to be arguing with Sicilians.

Why yes. I have seen the Godfather, thank you.

Fair enough…
But I may be forced to hold you to that.

It's already included in the notes for the next update.

Well you do once you start topping your pizza with things like Brussels sprouts and tofu…
but I certainly won’t be ordering such atrocities.

 That's not pizza. That's garbage.

You make a good point.
Y’all are right in the middle of one “great big empty”, aren’t ya’?

::yes::

Now I knew where Winnipeg was beforehand, but most folk don’t spend a lot of free time honing their geography and cartography skills.

I wish I did.
I hated Geography in school. Boring!
But now?
Anytime someone mentions someplace I'm not sure of.... Google maps!
(Used to be Atlas!)

Well, if your TR is a valid guide, apparently there’s no one’s left up there to have to worry about.

Well, there is that...

Well hi there!

Haha. Yes. I created the account to rent DVC points for our first family vacation in 2011.

I wrote about it in my Euro TR,
but I just told the story to Katie so I'll just tell you what I told her.

Sneaky, sneaky.

You completely set up anyone to do that. I cannot be blamed.:flower1:

42's been picked, but I'll allow it.
Or you could pick 41 or 45.
No one's picked those yet.
Ok. 41 is good.

Oh, really?

Chapter 6.
Do Fish Drink?
Those points were given for my 9 year old's birthday on October 12th. I do appreciate them.

Should I deduct those two points?
I would rather you give the two points for his birthday, then give any for mine.

And I don't normally comment on guesses so not to give any hints,
but I will say that we definitely did not do the dessert party.
But it wasn't for a lack of trying!

Thanks!

Yes. Yes I am. Oh, yeah baby.

Hey! Where'd everybody go???
I'm still here. You can't get rid of me that easily.:flower3:

Yep. Whatever you said!

Thought so.

I actually had to stop watching TV to do the replies.

Well of course you did! Otherwise that'd be less than 100%!

That sounds like it was a ton of fun!

Oh, yeah!
I loved that car.
Especially since I'll never be able to afford one.

You completely set up anyone to do that. I cannot be blamed.:flower1:

Okay. No blame. Just deductions.

Better?

Ok. 41 is good.

Noted.

Those points were given for my 9 year old's birthday on October 12th. I do appreciate them.

Oh! I forgot about that....
Okay. Birthday points awarded and will be reflected in the next update.

I'm still here. You can't get rid of me that easily.:flower3:

:goodvibes

It certainly is.
Wait. Are we still talking about the griddle at Teppan Edo?

:rotfl:actually I really was talking about the griddle but now that you mention it, that would have been a perfect spot for "that's what she said"...

Wow. You really know what you're talking about.
Yes. Yes I'm cool.

Yes, yes you are.

Well, give me some time.
I'm sure I'll annoy you pretty soon.

Nothing you've said to me has been annoying. Yet.

And you didn't feel ill afterwards?

My eyes hurt a little but it was worth it.

You like a liar, huh?
Did I mention that I'm 6'2'' with the body of a Greek god
and a face to match your wildest desires?

I think you're embellishing just a little. You're actually only 6'1".
And I told you, your sense of humor beats all of that.

 This TR would be very differ.....

Oh, who am I kidding.
It'd probably be exactly the same.
Maybe a few more typose.

And much less sleeping. You could save a lot money not needing a hotel room.

I even hate seeing them on others doors!

Nah, that's just 4 less people in front of you in line.

And that person was from New Jersey.

So weird!

Thanks!

Wait....

You don't know how many people I've met online. You could be the most gracious out of thousands.

Yep. Did that one too.
Maybe not in reference to my dressing habits...

Well the reference is what makes it cool.

I'd like a figure eight.
That way you could have a couple of straights and different banking.

Plus if they launch two cars at once,
you could see how close to crashing into the other car you could come.

Like in DCA where the cars race each other. Or like Dragon Challenge at Universal. I haven't been on it in years but the two coasters would start together and then intertwine and nearly collide. It was really fun in the front row. They may not run them together anymore though.

Nope. Her favourite colour by far is black.
(Matches her soul she likes to kid... I hope.)

I approve. Black as her soul.... Does she like NIN?
"head like a hole, black as your soul, I'd rather die than give you control"

Don't worry, if her soul truly was black she most likely wouldn't have gone to disney with you.

Sorry about that.
I'll try to do better next time.

You still have a few more chances to do what I tell you.

True.
But there you can't walk away and say
"I'm going down the street to the other theme park"

Well.... I guess you can.

But their prices are just as high! FOTL pass makes up for that though.

Why didn't you tell me?!?!?

You kept all your plans a secret. How was I supposed to know you would be eating there?

I did try Italy!
When we were in Venice and I couldn't move,

Were you in awe of the beauty around you? Or possessed by a demon?

the kids went out and got me "Japanese pizza"
(They called it that because it was cut into 1" squares
and had toothpicks in them for easy, mess-free eating.)
And it was delicious!

I've never seen that. What toppings were on it?

How did you like Venice?

Interesting. The "Japanese pizza" had a thick crust.
I much prefer thick to thin crust.

:scared1: how could you say that?

Nope. Not a big fan.
Lemon all the way.

:scared1: and another one!!!

Actually, I don't think she got any stuffed animals.

*Sticks fingers in ears*... I don't hear you!! La la la la....

Uh... wait.
Remind me to never make you angry.

You've already been reminded of that. It was a few months ago so maybe you forgot.

I'm not surprised... but a little.
Usually, when you say Canada,
people only know Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

Sometimes even Montreal and Vancouver get blank stares. It think it depends where you are at the time.

Smileycoffeespit_zps78mxykvg.gif

Love that! I've never seen that before!!

It's a classic. Makes me laugh every time I see it.

I seriously was wondering if I was part of some elaborate prank.

See, filming a reality show. I knew it.

Tori just said that!

I guess we think alike :)

I thought you might.
Not annoyed, are you?

Not in the least!!!! Going to enjoy it as long as possible.

I forgot to change my bus wait time. I want 39 and my sister wants 38. She'll come back and tell you but I'm just holding her spot.

Yes yes, long time peruser (silent lurker), first time poster! LOL. Yes, your trip report was definitely worth my first post!!!

Yay you're back!

That's her!!! I run around Disney along side her, usually in less comfortable shoes!!

Your shoes put mine to shame.

SWEEEEET! Thanks!! That got me out of buying her a birthday present :yay:

I'll accept that I guess.

But what about hazelnut gelato?? That's the best kind!

:rotfl:that's exactly what I said.

And if anyone's going to be a smart... uh, smart alec, it's going to be you.
Got me figured, do ya’?

I think you can apply that to the whole internet!
If you see it on there, it must be true!
I only believe what I read in The Onion.
Best news reporting on the face of the planet.

Bludgeons for everyone!!!
Sounds like a nearly unassailable political campaign slogan…

Bludgeons for everyone!

I know. Kids make your brain shrink, you know.
And I had so little to start with…

But noooooo.
"Someone will get hurt."
Oh, brother. Take the fun out of everything.

Probably the same people who won't let auto companies
put ejector seats in.

Pansies!

When I was a toddler, car trips saw me in the middle of the front bench seat, standing up so I could see out the windshield. One that looked pretty much exactly like this one (only painted white)

And if the breaks had been slammed on and by some miracle my face missed all of those various chrome control knobs protruding from that steel dash and radio bezel… rest assured that solid metal, sharp edged ashtray right below it there would most certainly have been pulled out all the way and three quarters full of smoldering butts to make dang sure that my skull was impaled by something.

And the fastest would be?

(Man I'd make a great straight man!)
A darkened two lane back road somewhere outside of town, maybe?

Yes you would make a good straight man.…
Dang shame I just didn’t have a punch line prepared for that one.
I was simply riffing on the Get Smart style catch-phrase-i-ology that you had put into the original shout out.

Why yes. I have seen the Godfather, thank you.
Then your one up on me. Truth be told…
while I’ve caught bits and most of the important scenes, I’ve never actually set through the whole film front to back.

I was referring to an actual Sicilian (who to this day, I still wouldn't purpusly argue with)

I wish I did.
I hated Geography in school. Boring!
But now?
Anytime someone mentions someplace I'm not sure of.... Google maps!
(Used to be Atlas!)
I loved the stuff. Still do.
I’ve been known to sit down and read through atlases just for entertainment.
