Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Back in a bit with more shout-outs.

Interesting occurrence on the flight home.
As I wrote earlier, our flight was canceled but we got on an earlier one.

That meant we had a lengthy (about 3 hours) lay-over in Toronto.
We boarded on time but I noticed that our departure time came and went
and we were still sitting at the gate with the door open.
The flight attendant announced that we were waiting for some connecting passengers.
Okay. Whatever.

But.

A few passengers dribbled in and we were still sitting.
Suddenly, the pilot comes out of the cockpit and confronts someone
(couldn't see who)
on the gangway.
"I don't care! We're not leaving without them!"

A few minutes later, some more people board the plane
and shortly afterwards, we taxi out for take-off.

Ya know. That's the kind of pilot I want flying for me.
One who's willing to stand up and say he's gonna wait for passengers.
Next time, it'll be me who's late.
I'd be really happy if my flight waited for me.
Not so much if it didn't.

Are we allowed to change our guesses at all without getting docked for the regular questions? Just wondering...

Hi everyone! Just checking in.
Too bad there's a big meet in October since we're going at the end of September!
Who are my Ohio peeps that want to do a DIS meet?

Having been to WDW on a fairly frequent basis, I totally understood what you mean about not needing to pushpushpush to get as much done as humanly possible. I like to think it's a more civilized way to tour.

Well sure but there is one little consideration...

Also much more expensive.

... aaaaaand, there it is.

Hopefully in a few months my years of counting all my pennies and stalking the internet trying to find cheap flights will be over. It's looking like I may move to FL in either March or April.

Oh really?!

I just hope when I get there I won't have spent so much $$$ on the move that I can't afford to buy a FL resident annual pass!!

I was so astonished that I forgot about how falling out of chairs leads to broken hips! At the last possible instant my brave, heroic little cat did her usual Leap of Faith onto my lap (and my laptop), pushing me back into the chair and saving my aged bones from snapping at the hip!!

Thank goodness for your heroic cat!

Too much?? Ok, keep them stupid bonus points. I don't need no stinkin' bonus points!

You want to replace your cat with a badger then?
No, wait... You don't need no stinkin' badgers either I suppose.

It's true about the Leap of Faith, though. When she wants in my lap it wouldn't matter if I had a four course meal set up there. She just launches herself and assumes it's all gonna work out in the end, and maybe she'll even get a nice piece of chicken!

I would think that she's hoping there's a four course meal there.
"Oh dear. Did I just dump all that food on the floor?
My bad. I'll just hop off and help you clean up the mess."

Great story, nice Disney tie-in, and you got ingenuity points from the folks, which is always a good thing.

::yes:: I needed all the points I could get.

I didn't know Pop waffles are a thing--I've only ever had the Mickey version.

They're real... and they're spectacular.

But, hey, no matter what the shape is they're always delicious! And don't forget, calories don't count at Disney. Either that or all the walking balances them out!

That's right!
And every time I get back, the scale gremlins have messed with my scale.
Pesky little things.

This is THE BEST QUOTE EVER. You're very witty, pkondz, but I have a feeling this little girl is gonna leave you in the dust...

You need to change that to "this little girl has left you in the dust."

It's already happened.

And she's right about the VIP package, of course. Once when we had it they sent one of the big Magical Express buses with the plush seats to MK just to take the 2 of us to Old Key West for our midday break!

Nice!
Odd, we didn't get that with our VIP package.

Huh.
Oversight, I'm sure.

I've had Dole Whip, but never tried the float. You kinda talked me into it because, you're right, that thing is gorgeous!!

It tastes better than it looks.
And it looks delicious.

My guesses:
1. 4 minutes
2. Teppan Edo
3. Cronuts, ice cream/sorbet from L'Artisan des Glaces
4. Test Track
5. Alice

Noted.

Wow, no kidding. But I think that kind of schedule would exhaust anybody!

Funny how when I was younger, the old farts
(i.e. People who were younger than I am now)
would complain and I'd just roll my eyes at how lame they were.

It's nice to know that someone can breathe a little (or in this case a LOT) easier because of what I saw and more importantly did something about.

::yes:: ya done good.
I suspect you'll do a lot more in the years to come.

Hope you have a safe flight.

I did! Late one though.
Got home after 2am.

My mom couldn't find the twin day picture, but she sent me some others.

These pictures don't even come close to showing her beautiful blue eyes. I included one of my dad too from my uncle's wedding. Oh, in case you forgot, I'm the blonde.

Thanks for those! :goodvibes
And I did remember you were the blonde!

For me, Brussels Sprouts and Disney are inexorably linked.

Brussels Sprouts and Disney, who would have thought? Well, you never fail to surprise me! ...and as usual, your story cracked me up. I know you're going to think I'm weird if I tell you this, but I actually love Brussels Sprouts! (cooked with some bacon of course!) We have them every year for Christmas dinner!

IMG_0888_zpsdynln9ig.jpg

Pop waffles.

Yum!! I could go for one (or two) of those right now!

And one of these too! You're making me hungry

Wow your ghost photos turned out pretty awesome!!! (and by the way - how did you get the two pics to switch like that?)

It's a good thing that you didn't stop to see Gaston... he may have challenged you to a push-up contest or something. It would have been a shame to show him up in front of all of his fans, right?! lol

LeFou's Brew!

P1020969_zpslq8zmrei.jpg

OK just stop already!! I am drooling.... and believe me it's not very attractive on a grown woman. (although I guess it's not very attractive when anyone drools)

Great update! Just warn me if I need to put on a bib before I read your next update. Disney food gets me every time. ;)

Bonus questions, round 8!
1. How long until the next monorail?

6 minutes

2. Where's our World Showcase ADR?
(Hint: It's been guessed at least once before.)

Via Napoli

3. We get some snacks in Epcot! Two of them, each.
What are they?

You: Cronut, Karamell corn
Kay: school bread, caramel marshmallow roll

4. We do one ride in FW. Which one?

The Seas with Nemo & friends

5. We see one character by happenstance. Any idea who?
(Major hint. Not a princess. But a face character.)

Alice

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, work has been kickin' my bootie this Month!

I hear that.

Oh, how I hear that.

Yea for waking up!!

Because if not... you'd be dead.
And then you'd only be allowed in HM.

Which isn't so bad, really.

Those look super yummy

I'm not a huge fan of waffles, but they were pretty good.

We can totally have a breakfast date then, since we ARE dating and all....

Oh, sure. And if I show up in September (I think that's when you're going?)
you'll probably bring your DH along.
Fine. Be that way.

The nerve of that one finger pointing sign! how rude!

I know, right?!?

do you mean do tell me they don't have waffle fries in the frozen north?

Not that I've seen.

Hey look at that! I'm gaining ground!

::yes::

14 points, wahoo! :cheer2:

Ya like that, hunh?

at the rate you're going I'd say the monorail was a walk on, since you have the VIP transport package and all

Teppan Edo

Cronut and frushi

"Ask the Phoenicians" Spaceship Earth
:)

Mulan

Noted.

I'm still reading! :wave2:

Yay!

And you're still married to her...?!?!? (...Just kidding Ruby   )

I'm thinking if she could've. She would've flown home.
I was lucky that she just needed a break from the parks...
and not from me!

Well said.

This is adorable. I need to find this show online somewhere.

You kids and your "online".
You just never knew what you'd see on Wonderful World of Disney.
Full length movies (broken up into two parts... "Too be continued!"
Cartoons.
Views of WDW or DL.
Ya just never knew.

You ARE brilliant. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

 Okay!
As of right now I'm marching over to my folks' house and tossing Brussels sprouts under the couch!

I can tell where this is going  did you think it would just disappear into the black hole under your couch..?!?!? :rotfl:

Uh, huh. You laugh, but.
They found one. Do you really think that was the first and only sprout I tossed under the couch???

The difference between cats and dogs... My dog would've helped me hide the evidence, even if it involved eating a brussels sprout. Although, he does eat plastic carrier bags and tennis balls too :rotfl:

Lucky.
My dog would either turn her nose up at it.
(Most likely)
Or eat it and barf it up later... whole.
"Did you give the dog your Brussels sprouts young man?"

Looks SO good :goodvibes

Like I mentioned a bit earlier, I'm not a huge fan of waffles.
But those weren't bad.

Where can I get me one of these :confused3  You guys have been spoiled forever!

Nah. Not forever.
Just several years.

WHAT A RUDE HAND. Not very Disney at all :sad2: It should be fired. Get your stuff from your desk and get outta here, hand.

tumblr_mlaqbei9oG1regpz7o1_500.gif

:lmao: That'll learn him!

WOW! Isn't it crazy how quickly the crowds can change?!

Next time I'm buying the VIP empty park package.

Can you talk me through the tiki room real quick? I did it years ago as a kid, and I've always loved the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room song, but I always decide against it when I'm at MK for the day.
(I've tried watching some youtube videos but they don't really give me the answers I want.)
What I want to know is, is it a seated or standing attraction?
AND
Do you have the option to leave after that first tiki tiki tiki room song?!
I'm not really bothered about the rest of it.
Thanks in advance!

You walk in and sit down.
Birds start talking.
More birds show up
(either descending from the ceiling or just being spotlighted with light)
They sing.
You nap.
Win, win.

It is a seated attraction.
It has to be.
People who fall asleep standing up could get hurt when they keel over.

I don't know if you can leave or not.
It wouldn't be easy unless you're near an exit, I think.
And even then, it might not be easy.

Honestly, you call yourself a Dis-er?!?!

I hang my head in shame.

But really... WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!?!?!

She's adorable.

Yes. Yes she is. :goodvibes

OH! I always have a regular!!! All I care about is the pineapple ice cream! Why is the float so much better? Aside from obviously having the juice to drink after?

You don't drink it after... you drink it during.
Haven't you ever had a float before?

Kids these days. I just don't know.
I am this close to not fighting Jamie for you.

Oh, who am I kidding.
Of course I'll fight him.
I'll lose of course, being old and slow.
So you don't have to worry.

I love this!! They look so good! I saw some of the portraits on the wall in Memento Mori and they're holograms that change between human and ghost as you walk past it, did you get one of these too? Can you pay less and just get a digital version, or are you super smart and made this gif yourself?!

Those are the hologram shots. I did make those gifs myself.
And I am super smart.

I think.
Wait... lemme ask Ruby.

She says "no".

Jamie and I shared one last year and even that was too much for us. I liked the taste but they're SO sweet, we threw a lot of it out. I kinda want to get some of those souvenir mugs though!

I don't remember if I finished it or not in February.
But I will admit that it was nice having it along when it was super hot out.

She's like "duhhh."

Yep. Pretty much.

Hence the "no" from Ruby.

Also, whenever I read the word "shoppe", my brain says "shoppy".

 Mine says show-pay.

"We got to the Hat Shoppy"

Show-pay

This is actually unbelievable.

Will it get better? Or worse???

Gahhhh. I want to change my answer but already having -10 is upsetting me.

Ok I want to change it.

To... 26 minutes!

Noted.

Oh no! I did not do well.

Well then ya better get your tucus in gear and get guessing!

Why do I not really know about this?!?! Are we supposed to randomly shower you with compliments?!

Yes. Of course.
However, excessive suckage may lead to deductions
as it would indicate excessive greed instead of true idol worship.

Not bad. Keep working on it.

Thank you dearest pondzi :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

You're welcome! :)

Oh lordy. The pressure is on. Here goes.

:lmao:

1. 1 minute!

2. It's been guessed before? By one tiny person in this vast ocean of comments?!?! Ha! No idea. Let's go Via Napoli.

3. Are you making this super difficult on purpose?!?! Jeeeeez. I have never done the dining plan before so I'm not very familiar with what counts as a snack... I just did a quick google search to get some ideas (because I'm THAT dedicated to this wonderful, fun trip report..... flattery points??!) ANYWAY I'll guess ice cream in the France pavilion, and School Bread from Norway :confused3

4. I'll guess Test Track because I don't think you've done it yet? :thumbsup2

5. Alice seems to be out 24/7 so I'll guess her!

Noted.

I'm very sad this TR is almost over already! Have you got your next Disney trip planned yet?!?!

No. Too much other stuff going on right now to think that far ahead.
Still have the rest of this day and all the next
(plus travel day... but that'll be short) to go.

Well that was a long time ago, it doesn't happen anymore. After having to chase a one year old around I switched to flats.

Yes, I suppose that would do it all right.

calvin_zpsmnly6zgq.jpg

Ewwwww! No I'm not volunteering for THAT. You'll have to find someone else. Also I don't chaffe. :rotfl:

 You sure you don't want to volunteer?

Thanks! I really need those since my guesses are usually wrong.

Well, get on that, girl!

So true! I saw a picture once with a not so hot guy posing with his not so hot girlfriend. In the picture next to it, the same guy (unchanged) was holding a guitar and the girlfriend was switched to a much hotter one. The caption under it just said "guitars, it's how they work".

 Proof!

(and.... I need to buy a guitar apparently.)

That's so cool! She must have loved that. Was it fun?

It was fun. Mostly because the teacher was really nice and fun herself.

What do you do?

I work in the Air Traffic industry.

And you still quit?????

I just couldn't keep up with the classes.
Too busy.

And it's part of the problem.
I also have to be very conscious of myself.
The class is always going to be adult women who want to try
(or, sometimes, continue) ballet.
Introduce a man in that mix and I know I can make some
(or even a lot) of women uncomfortable.
I try to be as quiet and in the background as I can.
After a while, when they see I'm just trying like they are,
things go better.
But I hate making people uncomfortable.

It was so funny because they were buying them in a non-ironic way. They probably weren't even going to throw them under a couch.

:lmao: Why wouldn't you want to toss them under a couch??? :confused3

That's probably how long we waited... We made several attempts because we kept going back at the wrong time when his line was already closed. We finally caught him at the halloween party.

Persistent. I'll give you that!

You can see how much disgusting Disney food you can eat in one sitting. We can all guess and the person who guesses the closest amount before you vomit wins a prize. I guess Pop tart sandwich, turkey leg, then funnel cake with 2 lbs of ice cream on top.

:sad2:

Still... it would make for an interesting contest...

Hi Pkondz

Hey Mac!

Welll I am lucky I have not been on for a little while busy with chrimbo and all that stuff that goes with it.

I had never heard that expression before.
I actually had to Google it!

Whadya know. I lernded sumptin'.

And I assumed that I would be too late for your next update but there you go just shows you can never assume anything….

Nah. Life's getting in the way...

  • Next monorail 7 minutes
  • Seas with Nemo and friends for the ride
  • Fish and chips from the UK Snack kiosk, Then school bread from Norway
  • Mitsukoshi Tokyo dining restaurant for your meal
  • It has to be Marry Poppins for the character

Noted.

 I would not have been either.

Nope. Still ticks me off.

Good googly-moogly! That's some serious nutty goin' on there.
I'd also have been right irked about that loopyness spilling over into my family.
On the up side, you don't have to foot those forthcoming psychiatric bills.
Dang shame all around.

Actually did have to get her some counselling.
Thanks a lot, kid.
I don't really blame her so much as her parents who did a number on her.

Are we allowed to change our guesses at all without getting docked for the regular questions? Just wondering...

Huh. No one's ever asked me that before.
And sure. No problem.
Pretty sure people have changed guesses before.
I just go with whatever you've guessed last.
(Except for bus time guesses, no penalty.)

Just stopping by to say :wave2:

Hi Alison!
Yes, I know. I think I'm two (?) updates behind on your TR?
Getting to it as soon as I'm all caught up here.
(Almost there!)

Hi everyone! Just checking in.

Hi Carrie!

Too bad there's a big meet in October since we're going at the end of September!

Easy. Just extend your stay by three weeks.

:rolleyes1

Brussels Sprouts and Disney, who would have thought? Well, you never fail to surprise me! ...and as usual, your story cracked me up.

 Glad you liked it. It's a fond (in a weird way) memory.

I know you're going to think I'm weird if I tell you this, but I actually love Brussels Sprouts!

You know me so well.

:rolleyes1

(cooked with some bacon of course!)

Bacon really does make everything better!

We have them every year for Christmas dinner!

One of the reasons I cook Christmas dinner.
I insist on a dearth of sprouts.

Yum!! I could go for one (or two) of those right now!
And one of these too! You're making me hungry

Sorry about that.
If it's any consolation, I could go for them right now, too.

Wow your ghost photos turned out pretty awesome!!! (and by the way - how did you get the two pics to switch like that?)

Thanks!
And I made animated gifs from quick photos I took of them.

It's a good thing that you didn't stop to see Gaston... he may have challenged you to a push-up contest or something. It would have been a shame to show him up in front of all of his fans, right?! lol

Absolutely.
Then again, maybe Disney would hire me as their new Gaston...
Hmmm....

OK just stop already!! I am drooling.... and believe me it's not very attractive on a grown woman. (although I guess it's not very attractive when anyone drools)

:lmao:
And I don't know about that.... (You'll see at the next update.)

Great update! Just warn me if I need to put on a bib before I read your next update. Disney food gets me every time. ;)

Okay, deal.

Hi Alison!
Yes, I know. I think I'm two (?) updates behind on your TR?
Getting to it as soon as I'm all caught up here.
(Almost there!)

I would have had a third update today if I didn't need a nap between parks. I've been sneaking in updates on our midday break while Fran naps, but after an early morning and a two margarita lunch, I needed a power naps today!

Absolutely.
Then again, maybe Disney would hire me as their new Gaston...
Hmmm....

Just don't light off any firecrackers from on top of your head if you get the gig. :rolleyes1

Wowie, Zowie, Maui!!! :flower1: Are you making up for Ruby's missed getaway? What an upgrade! You can't just slap something like that up there and not think we wouldn't notice. Details, details!:listen:

 I was curious to see who would notice and how long it'd take.
So... You... and not long!
So far there are no details.
Just the date and that's it!

I would have had a third update today if I didn't need a nap between parks. I've been sneaking in updates on our midday break while Fran naps, but after an early morning and a two margarita lunch, I needed a power naps today!

Well, I'm caught up now! Just posted!

Erp. Um... Nope.
I still can't imagine what he was thinking.

K, I think I'll change from Prince Charming to Aladin. PC is a bit more rare, I think. I dunno. It's probably Alice or Mary P. but I'll go with Aladin.
