I am starting to try to understand what we need to do for arrival in Canada (we cruise in early June). I also realize (hope) it may change in the next 4 months.

I read the government arrival info site BUT the part about random arrival testing at the airport and having to quarantine until results are received has me concerned. It seems like you have to provide where you're going to quarantine and you might not get your results right away?

Does anyone have a sense of how often that happens? That is, you are selected for a random arrival test and then your results are delayed? Or could anyone point me toward some other discussion about the topic (newspaper or other forum)? Thanks!

We are on an Alaskan cruise in July and have the same questions. So very interested as well in any information.

The random airport tests are provided by the Canadian Border services. The possibility of having to quarantine awaiting your results depend on where you have been for the last 14 days. If you went outside of Canada or the US in the 14 previous days, you WILL have to quarantine awaiting the results. If you've only been to Canada and the US in the last 14 days, you must pass the test if randomly selected but you can continue to your final destination without quarantine.

Of course, the rules can vary from now until then, but the up-to-date rules are available on this page :

Ah okay. So, only coming from the U.S., but I thought you had to quarantine at your destination until you received your results if randomly selected.

If you have not visited countries other than the US or Canada in the 14 days prior to your entry into Canada, you do not need to isolate while waiting for your test results if you were randomly selected

Only if you're coming from outside of the U.S. or Canada. If you follow the link posted above it lays all the info out.
