Heard from a friend that TAs are no longer allowed to book your ADRs for you?! If that is true then what good is a TA if all they do is book your package for you but don't do the extra work? At any rate, just wondering if anyone else had heard this? TIA!

Mine can and did just a few days ago. She didn't book all of them, but looked for hard to get ones.

Could be your TA subtly telling you that they have no interest in dealing with a headache that nets them no money.

We always use a Disney certified travel agent. Always! They do much more than "just book adrs". Our ta says she is not supposed to book our adr's, that is our responsibility. But she says she helps anyone who is having a hard time with it so they can do it. She will help as much as she can. I would never book a trip to WDW without our TA's assist. They know all things Disney and can and do go the extra mile to get you the best deals. Ours has proved over and over that she does all she can to help us. Yes, she does bookings, airline flights, and gives insider information on WDW. She hears all the news much quicker than we do and passes it along. I can't say enough for using travel agents, but ONLY use certified WDW agents. They don't charge a fee, but Disney pays them for bookings. There is no extra cost to you. I guess TA's vary a lot, but I bet certified Disney TA's follow a certain set of standards. I know we got lucky with ours. So, yes, they do a lot more than you mentioned. Also, what's so difficult about booking your own adr's??? I am not tech savvy at all, but found it was very easy to set up our own adr's according to which park we wanted to be each day. I had no problem with it. If I had, I'm sure I could get help from our TA. If I can do my own adr's, anybody can:)

I do book all my own ADRs, I had just heard this rumor and just wanted to know if it's true.

They can book them but they have to call at 7 am on a special travel agent line. They can't book them online because you have to log into your mydisneyexperience in order to book them online. Maybe that is what they meant?

Mine booked BOG for me at 2am, online. She has my MDE login info because there's nothing secret in there that she doesn't already know from making our reservations.

Yeah, my TA has my login information. Weird.

Also - I'm so thankful for her. She stayed up past midnight on Thanksgiving in order to secure FP+ for me. NO way was I going to do that with as much wine as I drank that day. :/

I am a TA (agency owner) & I book all ADR's & FP+.

I do have a few clients who are frequent visitors that enjoy that part of the process themselves but even then, I will often do the midnight watch fr the highly coveted ones & they will fill in the blanks later.

TAs can if they want to. Many don't because Disney doesn't pay commission for them. If you have an agent willing to book your ADRs, they are solely doing it as a customer courtesy. Many agents won't do it or will impose a service fee because of this. I find this especially true with "general" travel agencies (as opposed to Disney exclusive ones) because Disney commission is minimal and they'd rather spend their time on other packages to other destinations that bring in more money. For most agents, all they money they make is commission so time is money.
