I finally bought some crocs to wear to WDW and have been breaking them in.I read it rains daily in Florida in Aug so was wondering, are they slippery? Don't want to fall and break something, I am not the most graceful person in the world!

I wear crocs all the time. they do not get slippery when wet. the only thing that happens is your foot squeaks in the shoe when they are wet, but its not too bad. they are also still comfortable even though they are wet

One of the reasons I am trying the crocs this August is because I think they will be much better than sneakers/socks when they get wet. So far I haven't had any problems with them in the rain.

Please be careful! I DO think Crocs are slippery when the surface is wet.
I have fallen wearing CROCs three times wearing both Athens flip flops and the regular CROCs. I have never fallen wearing other shoes.

1. At a supermarket. There had been a spill and the tile floor was wet. I didn't notice and down I went.

2. Outdoors on a smooth sidewalk after a rainstorm.

3. At the Boardwalk Resort. I walked from my room to the elevator. The hallway carpet was wet, but I didn't notice. When I got to the hard surface outside the elevator, down I went.

I LOVE my CROCs, but I am very, very careful when wearing them on wet surfaces.

I wore crocs only for over a year (pregnancy). The tread wears out fairly quickly. Mine have lasted 2 weeks at Disney or 2-3 months otherwise. If they are new, I don't have a problem. But one the tread is gone, then they are very slippery on wet surfaces. I have fallen twice, and have seen others fall as well. The website notes to replace them once the tread wears out. So now I will buy a new pair just for a trip to Disney, but found other shoes to wear for everyday.

I wore only Crocs last year and didn't have a problem whatsoever. However, the Crocs were new, so the tread was still there. I loved wearing them because they dried out quickly so I didn't have to worry about my feet being wet. As eebadeeba pointed out, when the tread is worn, it can be slippery on wet surfaces...I noticed it slippery on very smooth surfaces such as tile. Otherwise, I don't really have a problem.

Just got back, and I wore mine in the rain. Loved them! Didn't slip once, and my feet were very comfortable (as opposed to my friend who had wet socks all day).

I agree wet or dry I'm a huge fan I wore them too through my whole pregnancy (in the snow too, not very smart:rotfl2: ) I have never nor any of my kids walking in the rain or playing in damp grass have ever slipped

Watch those threads though....

I've never found them to be at all slippery in the rain, as long as the tread is still there. But yes, once the tread goes down, they do become quite slippery...just like any rubber soled shoe would.

Otherwise, they're great for rain!

My crocs slide all over the place when wet. I guess it depends on how you walk. The tread on mine did not last very long.

Epcot when wet it the worst. Very slippery.

My crocs are very slippery when wet. Or let me explain further. My foot slides all over inside of the croc itself. It does have traction to the ground but not to your bare foot. I would not want to wear them in the rain.
It is very funny how people can have very different experiences with the same product. If I were you I would get out the garden hose and wet down your patio, driveway, or someplace and see for yourself.
As for them wearing out. I have had mine for a month now. My crocs are the only thing I wear now all summer long, and they still look and feel brand new.

They do get slippery when the tread becomes worn, but I've never had a problem otherwise. One of the things I love most about wearing my Crocs at WDW when it rains is that after the rain stops, you can go into a retsroom and use some papertowels to dry them. Once dried, they are completely dry, not still damp as many other types of shoes would be. If you happen to be at AK, try using the super-powered hand dryers on your Crocs! They'll be dry in about 30 seconds.

my feet got absolutely soaked on splash mt last week and i had no problems walking with them wet, even on other wet surfaces. my feet did squeak though but not for too long as they dry very quickly.

duh I never even thought about tread!!!!! So I have three pairs, got them about a week ago and have been trading off wearing them..
Think I shall go water the lawn and squirt off the patio and try them.

But your posts lead me to yet another question..it sounds like most of you don't wear socks with them??????

My 4 yr olds treads have worn out after about 8 months of use.. they are pretty much the only shoes he wears anymore (and desperately needs a new pair the next time we head to WOD) He has never slipped and it rains here almost daily LOLOL!

DF and I have never slipped or thought our crocs were slippery when wet. We both wear ours all the time. I actually have 2 more pair on the way for our Sept. trip. But I think you would have less of a chance slipping if your crocs were new.

No, no socks. I saw them when they first became a trend (Spring 2004 in Boulder CO) and I have seen people wear socks with them, but not often, and certainly not in the summer. That's one of the best parts about them!

I've worn them both ways. With and without socks. Of course I'm a nurse, so when I wear them for work I have to wear socks.

I've never worn my Crocs with socks - I have the Mary Janes, and socks look more silly with those than they do with Beach or Cayman ones. Well, to me anyway!

As for wearing Crocs in the rain ... I have a couple of times, and besides my feet getting wet and then squeaking as I walk, they've been fine. It was better than having damp socks and trainers all day, since the Crocs dried out pretty quickly.
