We currently have an ADR for San Angel Inn with the idea of having dinner and then seeing Illuminations from the restaurant. Is this a reasonable idea? If not, then it might not be worth using up a TS credit for this restaurant. Would love to hear feedback on the Illuminations/San Angel idea.

San Angel Inn is entirely indoors, so no. There is an outdoor cafe very close by called the Cantina, it is possible to see Illuminations from there. The usual restaurant that people go for to see Illuminations is the Rose and Crown.

San Angel Inn is inside the Mexico pavilion and there no windows. It will not be possible to watch Illuminations while eating at San Angel Inn.

As the previous posters said, San Angel Inn is completely indoors in a windowless pavilion.

The restaurant in Mexico with an Illuminations view is the outdoor counter service restaurant, Cantina de San Angel.

AS PPs have indicated-no Illuminations view-but, great theming, and very good food-unless you're looking for tacos and such.

I wouldn't cancel your San Angel dinner just because you can't watch Illuminations from the restaurant. The food and atmosphere at SAI are absolutely wonderful and definitely worth a TS credit, IMO. You can have dinner there and then head outside for Illuminations!

This is what I was looking for! If we did eat here and plan to head to illuminations afterward what time would be a good choice for dinner so that we make it in time for illuminations? I'm not sure how far the walk is. Thanks for your help!

THATS exactly what we are doing. Looking forward to San Angel ADR 7:30, never dined here before. Illuminations is at 9PM in October.:woohoo:

I'm not sure how far the walk is.

All you have to do is walk out of the building, so 2-3 minutes at most, but you do want to give yourself time to find a viewing spot. I'd be finished with dinner and outside no later than 8:30 on a 9:00 Illumination night.

I would make a reservation no later than 7 p.m. for 9 p.m. Illuminations. That way if reservations are backed up and they're busy you'll still have time to enjoy your meal without rushing and have plenty of time to find a good spot for Illuminations. We have enjoyed our meals at San Angel, but dinner always takes at least an hour. Not complaining , but they're not fast paced IMO.

I didn't see this mentioned yet. As everyone said, San Angel Inn is inside the pyramid. The Cantina and La Hacienda are on the water. I know La Hacienda has a view, and I would think the Cantina might too.
