Can you walk to DD from POR?

Can you walk to DD from POR? Or is the boat/bus/drive the only way? Just wondering as on our arrival date I need to get tix upgraded to APs and wanted to go to DD to do that before we hit any parks?

Any thoughts?

I dont think you can walk. If I remember correctly there are no sidewalks.

Take the boat, it is a nice trip.

No, the best (IMO) way to get there is the boat. What a relaxing, fun and beautiful way to go. We have even done it at night when it was cold... just put on a jacket and went for a ride. It's too far to walk and there are no sidewalks along the way. I'm not sure however that you can do the ticket upgrade at Downtown Disney. You could just go to a park and do it at the window without going in... if think you're strong enough to do that....

You can't walk there from POR. The boat ride is very nice. I believe that the DTD Guest Services office can do the upgrade for you -- I always understood that they're just like the guest services at the parks.

That is where we activated our AP's... without any trouble and I remember when we were there this last time we needed to ask a question and a man in front of us was renewing his AP's so seems they do those types of transactions. Planning on activiating our next AP's there as well after checking in at POR.

The busses to Downtown Disney start running at 9 am, and the boat starts around 9:30 am, so going their before the parks open, unless you have a car isn't really feasible. The Guest Relations office in the Marketplace, which is now located between Ghiradelli's and Team Mickey, opens at 8:30 am. There is no transportation from Downtown Disney to the parks or visa versa, so you would have to go back to a resort before getting to the park.

I would suggest either upgrading the night before, or doing it once you get to the parks. Otherwise you are going to waste quite a bit of time trying to get to and from Downtown Disney.

Does anyone know how long the boat ride is? We are staing at POR & really looking forward to riding the boat to DTD.

About 15-20 minutes, depending on the length of the stop at POFQ (ie how many ppl get on/off, and how long the boat waits)

I LOVE going in winter when it's COLD and I'm all alone on the boat with my book.... pretty spooky but a neat thing to do at WDW!
