Can you visit WDW and not the Parks?

This weekend my DH said he was thinking about running the marathon again in January. Because we will be with our almost 4 year old and our 8 month old, he suggested we mostly hang around the hotel and not really visit the parks. We will stay at a DVC resort (probably BCV). I have to admit, I like to do a lot while on vacation and have scaled it back quite a bit since our oldest came along. But not visit the parks! Can it be done? Has anyone ever tried this before?

I'm sure it's possible. You could go to downtown Disney or something, but I'm with you.
I could never imagine not visiting the parks. I'd tell hubby to go pound sand!

It would be tough being that close yet so far away. I'd probably break down and buy a one day but I guess you could probably find enough to do to keep busy. Downtown Disney, take the kids to Hoop-De-Doo Review, etc. , etc.

I have relatives who went to WDW for their aniversary without visiting the parks. They enjoyed it from what I hear... personally I think I would go insane. How well would it blow over with your kids?

Not sure if this counts but we have been doing this for 15 months. We did the marathon 01/2004 and bought AP's to US/IOA (our Dis AP's had just expired). To get our Disney fix we have meals at Boma's, Chef Mickey's, O'hana's etc. Since we had the US/IOA AP's we couldn't justify buying Dis Tix. I'm glad to say they expire in 2 weeks and we will be making our last US/IOA trip to finish the passes off this weekend. I already have my exchange voucher for a Disney AP in hand and that will be exchanged in July!
