Can You use your Disney Visa REWARDS for EVERYTHING at WDW?

Can you use it for everything at WDW?

What CAN"T you use them for?

I just got back Sunday and I was able to use my rewards card for meals, purchases and towards my room. The only place I could not use it was when we had a caracture of my husband done--they said that they are an outside contractor and that they are working on being able to take the card.

I also don't think you can use it at the Main St barber shop...because they too are contractors. Anywhoo...it's good everywhere else....enjoy

When we were there this past June, Fulton's Crab House would not take the Disney Visa Rewards card as payment. Our server informed us that they used to, but that they no longer do.
We were able to use it everywhere else we tried to though!

The Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom (and I would assume, Downtown Disney as well) cannot take them. They also cannot take the old purple Disney Credit Card (not Visa), which was the only other card I had with me! But they do take Disney Dollars.

Luckily, our wonderful server helped me figure out that I could use my Rainforest Safari Club card to get a free appatizer, my daughter and I could share a pizza, and after drinks and a generous tip, we still spent only $15 (the exact amount we had in Disney Dollars) for quite the feast. In fact, I had leftover pizza to eat in our hotel room the next 2 nights!

It was a little embarassing, especially when I thought I would have to do dishes to pay for our meal , but was one of my best money savers this past trip. It's amazing how well I can budget when I have no other option!

The biggest problem we encountered in August were CMs that were not adequately trained in how to redeem the card. Several times in EPCOT, CMs had to call supervisors to help them with the transaction. At the Earl of Sandwich in DTD, the young lady had no idea as to what I was talking about so I just gave up and paid cash. Found out later that they do accept the card but she was unfamiliar with it.
For the most part, it is very easy to use and you get a printout with the balance left on your card.

Jiminy--I'm hoping over time that all the CM's will become familiar with the rewards cards. Were you able to use the card in World Showcase, especially the restaurants? I've heard people having trouble there before.

The staff at Ohana's when we were there were very familiar with the card. It was great!!! (Wish I was there now!!!)

Swilphil, I was able to use the card in the World Showcase. I did not have too many problems in the restaurants but had most of my problems in the shops. Norway was especially bad. They were having a 50% off sale on some of their Helly Hensen clothing and the CMs did not know how to accept payment with the Rewards card. One young lady had to call her supervisor three times for help. Needless to say, if the sale prices hadn't been so good I probably would have given up and walked away.
The counter service restaurants were great. Absolutely no problems here. Just swipe the card, sign the receipt, and go. You get a printout with the balance remaining on the card after each use.
One problem we did have was at Mama Melrose's in MGM. The waitress knew we were using the card and that we wanted to use it to include the tip. When she returned she had a bill and told us that we could not add the tip to it. Like Earl of Sandwich, I just ended up paying cash.
I would definitely let the CM know you are using the card. That way if there is a problem, they can call a manager for help.
