Can you use TS credits for CS meals?

Sometimes. They are apparently more strict at the parks than at the resorts, although it's been posted that Main Street Bakery at MK will allow guests to use a TS credit. Where it's allowed, it's a one for one trade, no extras.

In years past I've seen people use a TS credit at CS restaurants.

If you are paying for the dining plan it seems thats a rather expensive way to dine. If its free dining then its just a preference of what you want to eat and time etc., although in that case, a room only discount maybe better.

I had the same question as the OP. I agree with you that using TS for CS is not the financially prudent way to go, but I was wondering if you're out of luck if come dinner time you can't get into a TS restaurant. (Can you tell I've never done the dining plan?) Do most people once they get they dining plan make TS reservations for every night? I think the only reason I'd want to use TS for CS was if I couldn't get a reservation at a TS.

People make their ADRs six months in advance to ensure they eat where they want and they know what time. There are plenty of go with the flow people who still use the dining plan and then try walking up, or having the concierge check daily to see what has available ADRs that day. If there are any must do restaurants or you are going at a busy time of year, I would definitely make your ADRs in advance.

I read the recent dining plan brochure for 2012 and it says that you can trade in your TS for CS.

Thanks for an authoritative answer. I usually book way ahead and do lots of ADRs, but the last couple of years I've gone it's been cold (I go in Feb) and last year it was so cold and rainy it really put a damper on things. I've been thinking of watching the weather and going more spur of the moment :scared1: but wonder how hard it would be to get TS restaurants -- with or without the DP.

We have done the DDP at least once per year, since it began in 2005, and, yes, we always make our ADRs 180 days out for each day will will be in the parks. Heck, we are going next December and I could probably tell you the restaurant and approximate time we will be eating then.
