just wondering - i won't be staying onsite - i don't think that i have ever been on the DL Monorail at DL!

Yes, you can catch the monorail in DTD or in Disneyland.

let's say i take the monorail from DL to the DL hotel, will i be able to get on the monorail at the hotel and take it back to DL? Just wondering since I would like to do that next time we go in May to have lunch at the DL hotel.

Yes, although you may have your places confused. The monorail officially stops in Downtown Disney, not the actual hotel. The hotel is a couple minutes walk from the monorail station in DTD. But yes, you can board the monorail from DTD to take it back to DL no matter where you are staying.

As long as you have Park tickets, you can ride the Monorail. However, if you are staying offsite, you will find the Monorail inconvienent. It stops in DTD which is easy if you are at any of the Disney Hotels, but if you are offsite there is no theme-park parking that will take you easily to the Monorail. Most of the non-private vehicle access (busses, cabs, or walking) is located on the opposite side of the park from the Monorail terminal. So, it is quicker to get into the park from the maingates than the monorail if you are walking or using public transportation.

Just wanted to add that you'll only be able to use the Monorail after park opening, as it's the MM entrance for DLH guests.

is it worth trying to ride the monorail - just to see what it is like?

thanks :)

Yes, the monorail is fun, and it's fun to see things from above. It goes from Tomorrowland over the Nemo subs, and you get to zoom over DCA and even out of the park, also through a hole in the Grand Californian (not like what I think the Contemporary is like, though), and its other stop is in Downtown Disney (across from the Lego store, if memory is serving me correctly).

It's very fast, though! :)

Since those are the only two stops, and since one stop is inside the park, you do have to have a ticket, you can't just ride it on a day off from the parks.
