Can you use points to stay at a moderate resort?

You can, but its usually not very cost effective - particularly if you are renting. You can book for cash for cheaper than you can rent points for. Its an option that DVC members sometimes use for various reasons (like booking last minute and they can get in at a moderate, but the DVC resorts are all booked up. Or the desire to revisit an old favorite and deciding they might as well use points). But since DVC rooms are cheaper in terms of points than moderates, it isn't an option that is exercised often.

You can use the points at all the moderates and deluxe hotels and even camping in FW! Depending on the day and time of year, the points will run 16-45 points a night for a moderate. Staying at a DVC resort offers better value for the point though.

Not all the deluxe hotels. You can not use points to stay at the BWI, WL or BC.

The reason I ask is that we are going to purchase DVD today. We get the points from last year and are going in March for our wedding. We already have a room booked at PORQ along with all our family. Although we would love to stay at a DVC resort, for this particular trip we need to be with the rest of our family. If its not worth using then I guess we can bank the points. Does anyone know how many points you need for March 15-22 for PRFQ?

21 points a night weeknights, 38 for Fri and Sat, Standard View
24 and 43 Waterview.
