Can you use other resorts' pools?

We plan to stay at the Contemporary in Sept/Oct. But since they don't have a kiddie pool, can we use the zero entry pool at the Poly?

Sorry, no. The pools are for registered guests of the hotel only.

There is a smaller quiet pool at the Contemporary that is not as deep as the regular pool. This may be better for young kids.

It seems like the garden rooms at CR are much less than any room at Poly. Also, we like that CR is so close to MK since that's where we'll probably spend most of our time (we are taking our three 4-year-olds.)

I will probably be made fun of for saying this, but I also don't like the "looks" of those shades hanging over the beds at the Poly. (okay, stop laughing!)

I know what you mean about not liking the looks of a resort. I never really liked the looks of the Poly (we have stayed at PO, CR and GF), but my DD wants to stay there. And the more I read about it, the more I can't wait to try it out. I even decided to stay at the CBR (really to save money), but I thought it would be neat to try each resort and experience something new each time.

And yes, there is a substantial difference in the price of a GV CR room and a GV Poly room.

You will love the convenience of the CR. It's really is great to walk to MK.

Let me just say this about that.

I live in Central Florida and for the past 11 years have gone to different WDW resorts just to lounge at the pools and have lunch and relax (inc. Dolphin and Swan). No one is going to ask you if you are a guest of a particuar resort. Disney does not want to risk embarrasing someone. We have even gotten bad service at one of the pool bars and got free drinks from it. Don't get me wrong I spend plenty of money while I am there.

We usually drive down in street clothes (suits underneath) and with a change of clothes in another bag. We say are going shopping and to have lunch. We head to the pool and use the resort towels.

Everyone is so afraid of what Disney might do they never chance it. Live life to the fullest; I say!

Uh, oh. I suggest you put on your flame retardant(sp) suit and get ready to be blasted. Seriously, this isn't really a cool thing to do. It's unfair to the people who are paying to stay at a resort and can't find lounge chairs because of people doing this. Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

if you believe you are owed the right to mingle in the resort pools..then pull out the wallet and get in line at the front desk of the resort and do it the right way!

noone owes you that right to use a resort pool

you remind me of the 12 yr olds sneaking in our cc golf course and saying they have just as much right to play there as paying members

Y&B pool has CM's who check IDs, and I've read a few postings on this board of people who have been 'carded' at the Poly and GF.

I'm not afraid of "what Disney might do", although I have no desire to purposely embarass myself. I choose not to infringe on other people's space, just like I would hope others will not crowd into my space, which I've paid to use for a brief time.

I would only use the other resort's amenities if it was allowed because I was a paying guest of another one of their resorts or something- and would still ask here (and have!) before embarrassing myself!
I wouldn't DREAM of ever just going to a resort's pool and using their pool bar/etc. without even being a guest at WDW's resorts! That has me just flabbergasted!

I stayed at YC & was carded. I agree its unfair to paying guests to use resorts pool w\o paying to stay there. I shudder to think what else he does.

The Contemporary has fountains built into the ground around the main pool. They are great for little kids to run in and out of. I saw plenty of small children playing in them.

Dznefreek it doesn't matter how much money you spend at a resort-you aren't a registered guest so you shouldn't be swimming there period.

Unless Diseny make more than a feeble attempt to enforce it's own rules, unauthorized pool-hopping will always continue.

I have seen people, on two occasions, asked to show their room ID and when they did not provided asked to immediately leave the pool.

They had to round up their kids out of the pool and leave.

Tell me how embarrising is that to explain to your kids, that you are trying to free load at another resort.

I recently made reservations through CRO for a February 9 day trip. We planned to split our stay at POR and YC specifically because my kids love SAB. Unfortunately, there was no availability at YC so we will spend the whole time at PO.

When I told the CM how disappointed my kids would be about missing the pool, she TOLD me to just head on over, no problem! I questioned her and told her that I thought this was indeed a BIG problem, and she said I was misinformed. I called the front desk at POR, and they too said "just make sure you bring the towels from the resort you're staying at".

I think before we decide to try this I will speak directly to someone in authority at YC and get their name to avoid being mortified, but even then I am very skeptical.

Has there been a change in policy? Does this have something to do with the pool rehab at POR? Have I just received the inconsistent misinformation Disney is becoming famous for? What do you think?

Aren't you the same person that posted on the "bend over backwards" thread that people are always trying to get something for nothing from WDW? And that Disney doesn't owe that person anything? While I tend to agree with you on that thread I can't agree with you here. At least on the other thread the poster actually paid to stay in the resort. You have paid no money to use any of the facilities at the WDW resorts. I don't care if you do spend money there on drinks or food. So what! It isn't the same as paying for a room. We pay for the room AND put out plenty of money for food and drinks so we are spending more then you. Don't the actual "guests" of a resort deserve to get a seat at the pool or have use of the pool without the freeloaders being there overcrowding it? I say that if someone wants to use a pool at a particular resort than pay to stay at THAT resort.
To Betty: I can understand not liking the pool situation at the CR. That is what made me decide not to stay there. I too have a little one and being next to the Magic Kingdom was a big draw but the pool at the Poly won out. My 3 y/o loves that pool. Being zero clearance she could walk in and out as if she were at the beach. My mom has a hard time navigating steps and it was perfect for her to be able to walk right into the pool. We think it is just the best overall place to stay. We've only been to the Wilderness Lodge and the Caribbean Beach resorts prior so that is all I can compare it to. At first the Poly didn't appeal to me either as it looks so dark but it is so different upon entering the resort. The little canopy isn't even noticeable after a few minutes. It is only a small bamboo type shade anyway. Mousekeeping had a field day making towel monkeys to hang from them and they were so cute! I'm so glad I went with the Poly as the pool is fabulous and the monorail to the Magic Kingdom can't be beat! You hop on it at the Poly and only make one stop at the Grand Floridian before going to the MK. It is such a short, quick ride and much better then walking anyway. We even got to ride in the front of the monorail and to see the Castle from that viewpoint is perfect! You can also get the Poly fairly cheap if you go when they offer discounts. We paid $204 for a garden room in October and hope to get the same price for the April-May trip. Good luck with what you decide!
