Could you use points at the poly or grand floridian? Thanks for any info:)

Currently, yes, but non-DVC resorts take a LOT of points. Once the Grand Floridian DVC opens, it is likely you will no longer be able to use points at the cash part of the Resort. Once a DVC component is added, you usually can not use points in the regular resort rooms. And there is a $95 trading fee. California is the exception, owners may use points for Grand Californian cash rooms.

Also, if you purchase points on the resale market, you may NOT use those points at non-DVC resort venues, except for RCI and Club Intrawest.

The poly is listed under Disney collection. I can't remember off hand, but the Grand Floridian is either Disney collection or Concierge collection. The run a lot more points to stay than a DVC resort.

The Grand Floridian is (currently) part the Disney Collection. The Concierge Collection are non Disney hotels.

And there is no guarantee that points at non-DVC Disney hotels will stay the same. They can and will go up every year.

Poly and grand floridian are 70+ points per night at the lowest season
The 70+ points per night rooms are for the club level. However, BestDadEver is correct that there is a huge point difference between staying at a DVC resort and staying at a Disney Collection resort.

Here are a few examples to illustrate the point. I'll use a 7-night stay in mid January 2013 for the comparison. This is the Adventure Season for DVC resorts and Value Season for Disney Collection resorts; the cheapest season for both categories. The Grand Floridian and Polynesian rooms will have either two queens or one king bed in them. So for the sake of this illustration, I'll go with the smallest DVC room near the Magic Kingdom that can sleep 4 people in an actual bed (instead of a pull-out). That would be the 2-bedroom villa (which can actually sleep 6 in real beds).

Grand Floridian

Garden View Hotel Room: $95 + 394 points
Lagoon View Hotel Room: $95 + 445 points
Standard View Club Level Hotel Room: $95 + 649 points

Polynesian

Garden View Hotel Room: $95 + 343 points
Lagoon View Hotel Room: $95 + 438 points
Lagoon View Club Level Hotel Room: $95 + 577 points

Bay Lake Tower

Standard View Two-Bedroom Villa: 273 points
Lake View Two-Bedroom Villa: 296 points
Theme Park View Two-Bedroom Villa: 368 points

Villas at Wilderness Lodge

Two-Bedroom Villa (all views): 269 points

Another distinction I should make is that the Disney Collection rooms will come with daily maid service. If you want a more apples-to-apples comparison, you could factor in the $360 it would cost to add 6 additional full-cleaning days to have daily service in the DVC rooms.

....and this is exactly what prospective owners should read when they have concerns about resale "restrictions". Those "restrictions" prohibit you from using a TON more points + $95 to stay in a smaller room with no kitchen, laundry or jacuzzi tub:upsidedow. OTOH, I guess it is nice to at least have the option...

Wow! Never used points for Disney collection in FL but it is quite high for a week stay!
Since we live in So Cal using the other DLR for a one night or weekend stay doesn't seem to bad. Although we only use them when we can't get in VGC on a shorter notice than 7 months out. It seems to go hand in hand with our AP's.
