Can you use DME to get back to the airport, even if you don't have a flight?

In conjunction with the other thread I've posted on here today (about getting from Orlando to Port Everglades) I've realized that most of the scenarios require us to get from the resort back to MCO after our stay at Disney. Will DME take us back to MCO if we don't have a returning flight booked that day? We will probably either take a bus from MCO to Port Everglades or rent a car from MCO and drive to port everglades-- but that would require DME taking us back to MCO. Thanks for your input. --Katie

Yes, as long as you are a registered guest at a Disney resort you can take DME to the airport. Just provide DME with a flight time that conicides with the time you want to be at the airport, keeping in mind the bus will pick you up 3 hours prior to your flight time. So you if you check the airlines and chose a flight that leaves say 12:00 your DME bus pick up time will be about 9:00, count on being at the airport around 10:00 or so

Why don't you just rent a car at Disney World?

Yes my Husband did it one year to get back to Mco to hire a car. He just enquired at the CS desk and they arranged it. :surfweb:

If like us, We chose to hire from Mco instead of Disney World because we had a lot of baggage and wanted to drive ourselves to the Airport. Less Hassle than Transport.

I agree with a PP rent a car at WDW. Alamo is onsite and will even pick you up at your resort. You just have to call the Alamo office there at WDW at least 24 hours in advance to arrange for them to pick you up at the resort. Alamo has two location on Disney property. One at the Dolphin hotel and one at the Car Care Center which is just outside the Magic Kingdom parking lot. Why waste time going clear to the airport.
If you don't like Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar are all located at hotels across the street from DTD. Just take the bus to DTD and walk to the hotel. We have rented several times from Avis which is located at the Hilton by DTD. We took the DTD bus and walked to the hotel which was a 5 minute walk from the DTD bus stop.
At the end of our trip we even droped the car off at the airport and there was no extra drop off fee.

I agree that taking Magical Express to the airport just wastes time. I rented a car from National/Alamo at the Dolphin in April to drive to Ft. Lauderdale for a cruise. I stayed at the Swan, so it was a very convenient pick-up. However, you need to rent from the Car Care Center, rather than the Dolphin, if you want a ride to the pick-up location.
