Just wondering if they would let you pay for the adult meal plan instead of the child for a 9 year old. I can't see having him eat chicken nuggets while everyone else can order a nice meal.

Also, do you know if free dining comes back out and we utilize that offer can we pay for the upgrade for the 9 year old?

Also, I just had another question. If we choose to wait to go back to the world when the 9 year old turns 10, will we be able to get free dining for those ages? I understand there is no guarantee on FD, we just tend to book a vacation when and if they offer FD. We missed this last promo. Anyway, it would be 2 adults and a 10 & 11 year old for this question.

Thanks!:)

Yes, you can "upgrade" a child to adult, for the difference in price. The child is treated as an adult for ticket purposes, too, though.

To answer your question about upgrading during free dining: Yes you can do it then too, you just have to purchase an adult ticket.

To answer your last question, everybody registered in your room will get the dining plan under the free dining promotion regardless of age. We've done the free dining promotion with our family of 4 consisting of 2 adults and 2 Disney adult kids (12 & 10 and the time). You pay rack rate for the resort and adult ticket prices for each person who is over 10 (or listed as over 10 if you're upgrading your 9yo) and you get adult dining credits for each person over 10 (or listed as over 10 if you're upgrading your 9yo).
