Can you upgrade from MYW to DVC AP mid trip?

We have package tickets that we want to use to renew our annual passes. Our AP's expire Nov 30th and we'll be in Disney on Dec 3rd. So we will be within the 30 day period to get the renewal discount. The package tickets were bought before the price increase, so I want to get the current value of the ticket, not the purchase price, applied to our renewal. Do I need to use the package tickets before bridging them if I want to get both the current value and the AP renewal discount?

Thanks for any help. :)
I called a few days ago about doing this. Using park tickets I bought for December and then seeing if I could use it towards renewing my AP. I was told no when I called member services. Only new APs not renewals. So be sure to call and check first!

You were given bad information.
The phone CMs are infamous for giving bad information.

Very sad.

Our AP expires June 7, we are there until June 9... If Frozen stuff comes out June 8-9 I was thinking of taking our tickets for December, upgrading them and then going June 1-7 next summer. I do not want to waste $1200 worth of tickets on incorrect information. In the parks should I just go to the ticket office with my ticket number? I have not attached them to MDE because I do not want the tickets for December to trump our AP on our June trip.

I will second this. We became AP holders on our trip last October. Our first Disney day was on the 21st but we only went to MNSSHP and used party tickets. The next day, we entered the park for the first time with our 5 day hoppers and upgraded them to APs that day. I can still pull up and download our MNSSHP pictures even though we didn't have an active AP until the next day. So no matter when you upgrade during that trip, you should be able to download all your photos with the MM inclusion on the AP.

So your pictures were linked to your magic bands and when you upgraded the pictures were there? I had originally planned to enter the park the first day and then exit immediately to upgrade so the price was bridged and we would be able to use photo pass, but it sounds like we don't need to do that and could upgrade on our way out that day.

You would be wasting a lot of your AP if you did that.

You just need to enter the park for the price bridge to occur, not exit. So you can enter the park and upgrade inside.

You definitely don't need to do that. Your pictures that are 'current' in your photopass account will all become downloadable when you get the AP entitlement added. Even if it's two weeks after they were taken! (I can only see this timeframe being relevant if 1) you were traveling during an AP blackout period 2) you were trying to 'share' your AP photopass entitlement with someone else traveling before you - as long as your are MM 'friends'.)

1. I do not want to waste $1200 worth of tickets on incorrect information.
2. In the parks should I just go to the ticket office with my ticket number?
3. I have not attached them to MDE because I do not want the tickets for December to trump our AP on our June trip.

1. Why would you think you would be "wasting" $1200 on tickets?
Even if you didn't use them, they would remain valid indefinitely.
(Maybe you mean you'd prefer not to have to pay that much at this time.)

2. Any ticket booth or Guest Relations.
3. Doesn't matter. Your ticket number and ID information will work.
Be sure all guests 18 years and up have a legal photo ID at the time of the upgrade.

Are the December tickets part of a package or did you purchase them separately? If they are part of a package I don't think you will be able to access them until December so you would not be able to use them towards the AP renewal two months from now.

I purchased them separately with the DVC ticket deal that ended March 31

What I mean is activating the $1200 in park tickets on June 8 , going to the ticket window to renew our AP and finding out we cannot do that. Then we used $1200 in tickets for one day since we leave on June 9.

how? we would have one day this June, 6 days in December and 6 days next June.
If you wait until December then you will be able to use it until next December. You never know when you might want to hop down to Disney to use the AP. :)

Go to the ticket booth first.

Why the emphasis on "mid-trip?"

The AP expiration date will be based on the date the original ticket is first used.

Thanks-that is good to know. I said mid trip because I wasn't sure we would want to take the time to do it on our first day and wondered if we could do the upgrade at any point in our trip. Thanks
