Can you upgrade b-day ticket to AP?

We have been wanting to get AP's anyway and since I'll be close enough to go on my b-day I was hoping I could upgrade to an AP and pay the difference. I know it says you can upgrade to another ticket but I didn't know if APs are included as well. If so, do I do that at the same place I would get the b-day ticket?

The birthday ticket must have been used on your birthday and the upgrade must take place while it is still your birthday.

Easy to get the birthday ticket when you arrive at the theme park, enter the park, and upgrade at Guest Relations just inside. (Upgrades to AP can only be done at parks, not at resorts.)

I don't think the birthday booth CM him/herself does upgrades; at any rate that task would slow down the line for others simply wishing to claim their birthday gifts.
