We purchased 10 Park Hoppers with no expiration in May, i read you can upgrade within the first 7 days for your full purchase price. Can you upgrade later for less than the purchase price. I'm thinking about it so we can get a discount on a room for a trip next May.

I'm going to bump this back to page one for you so that some of our veterans can offer advice.

There's a great explanation of this on Deb's web site. In a nutshell, the answer is yes. You have up to 14 days from first use of the MYW ticket to do the upgrade for full credit.

After that 14 day window has gone, you cannot "upgrade" (Disneyspeak for applying the full value of the ticket towards the new AP). But you can apply the dollar value of the unused major park admissions towards the price of the AP. Unused plus options have no value in this transaction and will be lost. Also, you must have added the no expiration option to the original ticket to be able to do this after the 14 days.

Thank you very much. At least I know I have the option to upgrade and not loose what I already spent. Now if I could only get the parking fees back. Oh well!

Also, it's a small thing, but if you upgrade, your Annual Pass will be backdated.

If you use your tickets on June 5, and decide on June 10 to upgrade, your Annual Pass would expire on June 5, 2006.

is that only when you upgrade within the first 14 days? I have 7 days left on a 10-day MYW non-expiring ticket bought/used in April 2005. Our plans now include 3 trips between Sept 2005-July 2006, and I had planned on applying the difference toward an AP. Does that mean the AP activation date is April or September? :confused3

thanks!

The AP is only backdated when you UPGRADE. (See GoldenOldie's explanation.... )

Like she said - you'd be getting Dollar Credit, so your AP wouldn't be backdated. :)

Maybe you can. Depends on what you are asking here. :)

If you are considering upgrading a MYW ticket to an AP within 14 days of first use, you will have the start date backdated to the first use of the MYW ticket as Dan said. If that's what you plan on doing, then save all your daily parking receipts and bring them with you to the Guest Relations window when you go to do the upgrade. They will refund the parking fees for the dates you went to the parks that will now be covered by the AP. It will usually be done as a credit against the AP but it a cash refund has been known to be given.

If you do the dollar credit after the 14 day window, you are out of luck on the parking fees.
