It basically means, "I hope your friend recovers. I heard that you are fantastic." Or, "They say that you are fantastic."

Someday, I REALLY want to learn Spanish. There are so many times when I could've used it. Sadly, people always seem to speak REALLY fast in other languages.

Wordreference.com has an english - italian translator, but you'd need to work out the translation on your own. It's the best online translator according to my spanish teachers. It's highly accurate for Spanish, but I'm not sure about Italian.
